GDT: 2024-25 season game 68 LA Kings vs Carolina Hurricanes @1:00pm 3/22/25

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

My roommate and I were watching the Kings/Sabres game, he offered the stupid goal=shot bet.

If anyone wonders why I hate Mathieu Garon so much, here is your answer. This was also the only NHL action Adam Hauser saw in his career, giving up 6 goals on 18 shots, but hey at least he made it, and has a funny story to tell his kids and grandkids.

I was 23, so my liver was still in it's prime, I survived but it was not fun.

If you can challenge offsides, why do the linesman make the close calls at all.. they get those wrong plenty of times as well (calling it off when its onside)

good take

He plays a well rounded game, the Kings have done a good job developing him into that (thats not a problem for the Kings), he's not Patrice Bergeron, but he's a good defensive player.

But to be an elite center in the NHL he is going to have to produce a lot more offensively over a full season than he has, it's tough to use the words "55 point scorer" and "elite" in the same sentence.

Agree .. but he is putting the tools in the toolbox where before there was no toolbox.. just need more of it coming together.. he also has had a very 2 steps fwd, 1 step back development "curve" - which I dont think is over. Lets see if he can keep gaining confidence in his shot which was a comedy show until recently.

The last time Doughty played more than 19 minutes but fewer than 20 was Jan 17th 2011.

He had a couple games where he must have been hurt cus it's like 1 minute here 5 minutes there but the last game where he played real minutes without getting hurt and didnt crack 20 was that game.

THAT'S the oddest stat of the game for me. that and that Spence wasnt on the ice for a goal for or against in a game that had 9 goals in it.

Thats some wild wild stuff right there.

Jim is usually the most sympathetic guy out there, but he f-d up a bit on this one. Edit: realtime I heard it and didnt think anything of it because I know him as a telecaster.. but I can see how it could be taken
