We're benching King's legend Lewie for a chump that can't get a point skating with Kopi & Kempe while getting PP1 ice time. Just Fire Hiller already.

Doughty sucks at hockey. Maybe it's just rust? Right?

Need to dump him in the East before the draft. Just tell him the King's are rebuilding after the first round exit. Then sign some free agents & go for it as soon as Doughty's in the air.

Love the pk where the King's go into prevent mode & give the puck holder time to wait for someone to get open instead of taking half a step & pressuring the puck holder so he has to move it before he's ready. Can't wait for 97 & 29 to pick that apart.

Stuart Skinner went down with an injury. Not sure how serious it is.
Might benefit them. Skinner with his 2.84, .897 is a "get what you pay for" 2m aav goalie. Pickard at least is over .900 save pct. Oilers spend 3M on their goalies and put all the pressure on the forwards/bouchard to outscore their opponents... not a great strategy I say.

How long before they move Kuzmenko off the top line like its his fault? Would like to see what happens if they stuck Turcotte between Kuzmenko and Kempe/Laferriere. If they wanna quit messing around its time to move Kopitar down the lineup and rest Doughty until the playoffs or last couple games of the season and see if he heels. He is not doing the team any favors by playing this way in the playoffs.
Mcdavid left the game with an injury tonight. Skinner and Draisatl may be banged up also.

They picked up Walman and Ekholm has come back from injury. Oilers still play aggressive to score goals and win games. Hiller coaches to lose games! Hiller basically coaches this team to play prevent defense the whole game!

You could get away with Pickard to get by the Kings in the 1st round, but not further.

Kuzmenko is too fast for Kopitar to keep up with, where Kempe can keep up with Kuzmenko. Kopitar is not a 1C anymore. Byfield should be 1C, Kopitar 2C and Danault 3C, with 4C anyone but Lewis!

Dont u think its weird they havent upgraded their goaltending last few seasons - with the team in its cup contending prime? 3M spent on both goalies is like a team in tank mode.

Hopefully we’ve seen the last of Lewis. You will probably get your wish tho cause you just know they cant help themselves.

Caps were genus with low budget goaltending, but that was because they are still one of the better teams drafting goalies or finding goalie talent via trade/free agency. Oilers are exactly modeling their current teams like the Oilers teams that won 5 Cups, but they learned nothing from having Grant Fuhr, Bill Ranford(was a great goalie coach for Quick's 2 Cups) and even Andy Moog(he started his NHL career as an Oiler). Oilers even had better goalies in CuJo, Dwayne Roloson and Talbot. Skinner has become more experienced and his numbers have become worse every season. Pickard somehow resurrected his career from falling downward being a 3rd string goalie, to now being a backup/platoon/stealing starts from Skinner.

I actually think Hiller has the realization the team plays better without Lewis. Lewis has some decency if there is an injury or if Hiller gets terribly desperate if the Kings were down 3-1 in the series to the Oilers.

So I heard on the telecast (I don’t watch the games) that the Kings are the youngest team in the the WCF playoff race. Kinda crazy for a team who ‘abandoned’ their rebuild just a few years ago. Weird, huh?

Quick answer is yes. Oilers could go with Kuemper/Gibson/Lindgren/Fleury/Demko(even injury risk) and win a Cup! Skinner basically messed it up for the Oilers last season because the Oilers offense/good team play carried the team in the playoffs last season.

Maybe. I think this roster could do so much better with a coach upgrade for the playoffs, but I'm not sure the rest here see it that way with this roster. It baffles me how the younger part of the roster is so misguided. No coach gets away with playing defense first/being responsible in their own end, other than Sutter and Barry Trotz, where both have coached 3 Cup winners.

That doesn't sound right according to this chart.

Colorado and Dallas have a younger average age, and the Blues have the same average age as the Kings.

It’s just sad that the Kings were only able to mop the worst team in the NHL for 1 period. Good luck thinking you will beat the oilers playing like this. Imagine playing like this and thinking that the Oilers double shifting McDavid the second they’re losing that Kuemper will be able to stop him. Good goaltending reliance here we go again. Good goalies don’t win against the oilers. How have the Kings not learned this. If the Kings learn to dictate play and go into volume shooting then maybe they will stand a chance. The team we saw in the first period has to play like that against the Oilers all game. Going into a shell has never ever worked for the Kings. They can’t take periods off so close to the playoffs.

I’m happy the Kings won but it’s so disappointing that the Kings approach has not changed after being nearly swept and dominated in the playoffs last year. Like what’s the logic here

the telecast mentioned the Kings have the 3rd youngest avg age D core. Nick and friends neglected, or maybe just forgot, to mention this is all the Kings have to show for the rebuild.
