GDT: 2024-25 season game 39* LA Kings vs Winnipeg Jets @5:00pm 1/10/25

This team will get to the next level if Danault and Fiala can get their heads out of their asses (Moore as well).

The Kings badly need everyone to be at the top of their game come April. It's great to see them clicking and playing solid hockey at both ends of the ice, and it's especially better to see them regaining their identity, but there are still some concerns (like the power play, and the aforementioned players).

Just be prepared and have the mindset that they will be playing the Oilers once again in the first round, and they have to slay that beast at some point.

I believe its time the hockey media do a report on the 11/7.. i dont recall it ever going mainstream before. Lots of teams do it every once in awhile.. Time for Eliotte Friedman to do a little piece on it.

This is a road game. The only tribute to Lewis will be laughter as he assassinates Helly’s crest.
Spaced & thought it was a home game.

Good game. Gutted out a win. Made it harder than it needed to be. Moverare in a foot race with Kupari was funny. Burroughs actually had Iafallo covered & tied up in front of the net!!!! Moore is struggling in the neutral zone.

It might have been too many men. 😂

Apparently, a lack of understanding of the importance of paragraphs is one of them.
That too.

I was just more thinking about the fact they act like insufferable, unimaginative assholes with one argument, who think the only reason their antics are disliked is because they're some "free thinkers" who aren't part of a club.

The only validation they get is thinking they're "true" fans by acting like criticizing something you care about is a crime. It's cultish.

Isnt it past their bedtime? I thought their moms wouldve got them to bed by now... I have suggestion - why dont they write the drivel into their diary and read to themselves and save us the hassle of clicking thru the nonsense that no one reads.
I have to be home before the street lights come on.

Nah, ask Dimitri at The Hockey PDOcast to look into on an episode with Jack Han. I like Elliotte, but he’s no hockey tactician.

Or, perhaps @All The Kings Men can get Jack Han on the pod?

Why are we running 11/7 again? Does any other team do this consistently?

A nice win but it was wasn’t against Hellubuyck. Like a few have said if your goal is to watch them play good games in the season Kings are doing same thing they have done last 3 years. I still don’t see anything that is making me think April will be anything different. We do seem to have better regular seasons when Drew is injured though which is interesting. Sucks watching dudes who were so dominate get old.

Hmm....wow.

Maybe you missed the part where the Kings only allowed ONE goal against the NHL's top offensive team? Maybe you missed the part where the Kings only allowed them 19 shots on goal? Was Hellubuyck going to make a difference for their offense?

Maybe you've also forgotten that the Kings beat this same, 6 weeks ago (against Hellubuyck, btw), and only allowed one goal and 14 shots? So, maybe it's not the fluke you are thinking of?

lol...just miserable.

The timeout was made to review the play leading up to the goal. They never said definitively what they were looking at, but you could see the coaches talking on the comms. and reviewing the play on the bench.
(Hiller) On taking a timeout in the third and what he was potentially looking for on a challenge
It was really difficult to see, but we thought maybe that on the faceoff, one of the centermen had a hand pass, pulled the puck back. It was really, really difficult to see. In the end, we have to double check I’m not even sure if that’s challengeable or if the ref just misses it and you can’t. You can challenge a hand pass but that might have been a face off one. So yeah, we never had a good angle, but we wanted to take a little more time to make sure we were sure.

Why was the Winnipeg defender complaining after Kempe’s OT goal? Couldn’t figure that out.

Spence and Mo had solid games too.

I’d like to ditch both Englund and Burroughs for Edmundson and dress Akil, but I guess 11-7 is working and why rock the boat.
That’s my feeling on it. I want Thomas to play, he’s worthy of a spot BUT there’s no denying 11-7 is working.

Thought LA had too many men on the change, because it was dropped right at their bench.....technically he may have had a point, but I've NEVER seen one like that ever called that tightly....so he was bitching to bitch....

Absolutely I can, he lost where Scheifele was, if Vilardi indicated shot, and passed....what was Gavrikov defending, no way he could have defended the shot, and he blocked a potential pass to no one, if he KNEW where Schiefele was, he would have had a shot at blocking the pass, now it still could have made it through, and it still could have scored, and then you are 100% right, nothing you can do, he did everything he was supposed to, but he lost his guy.

Head on a swivel is not just a saying.....
I’ve now seen the play and I agree completely. Positionally he’d also drifted too far towards the play. So it was lack of awareness but definitely compounded by his positioning (3-4 feet but it matters).

I’m a big Gavrikov fan btw, he doesn’t get enough credit for how he helped Roy elevate his play.

Yep, it's no slight to him, this is 100% micro micro, when on a macro scale he played well, he made some great one handed plays to prevent WPG from gaining control multiple times,

But on this play, he got lost...not good on 5v5, and absolutely devastating on the PK.

Oh okay, thanks!

I think the Kings go away with 11-7 when Doughty gets back. 12th forward could almost be a specialist - PP Player, FO, Heavy Player, ..... I remember the Bruins used to put Chara in front of the net on PP, why not try Jeannot or Lee in front?

good win over a good team. playing its backup goaltender and more than likely looking forward to thier division rival game today.
i remind myself there's one helluva alot of racetrack yet to be run this season and that so much yet can happen. hoping that we stay heathy because given an uninjured status we can compete with anybody especially the oil patch.
