Big Ballsy win last night. They didn't fold when the Phlyers took the lead.
And once again a bounce back win after a loss.

And when I say a big ballsy win, I mean this size

Spence had been playing well for a while, but his last two games were dog poo.
Nonsense, he was outstanding last night, especially in transition.

Honestly, I think some of you guys wait for Jim Fox to say something before you notice it. For stat watchers, he has 5 points and is a +6 in the 7 games this month. It's been a month since he had a minus game. He has been playing very well ever since Moverare was recalled.

I was wondering if his turnaround matches up with Moverares call up. Its been a solid pair. Curious to see what they do when Doughty is back.

Spence's issue is like Muzzin's when he first started coming around--his messups are typically very visible and/or catastrophic so it's easy to latch onto his mistakes. He does stuff the rest of the time that's so important and useful and that does fortunately even show up in the metrics.

It is. It's nearly 1-to-1. Great stabilizing factor.

Last night Spence messed up on the PP. Quick shot or dump it in. Nope, held onto puck at the end of the PP & coughed it up for a goal.

He had a couple big mistakes against Pittsburgh. Spence is making a few mistakes a game that lead to goals or very good chances for the other team. Can't have that from a 3rd pair defender.

National broadcasters usually are clueless because they don't follow the individual teams closely.

I like PK because he has a personality. He did say a lot of silly things though.

Levy is way better than Buccigross.

My favorite part is when he did the in game interview with Hiller and was looking for praise from Levy for his question. Levy's like "yeah, the question was good but you answered it for him which I've told you not to do a thousand times off the air". LOL!

Every defenseman is going to make a dumb mistake now and again, even hall-of-famers.
Spence doesn’t do enough offensively for his big defensive gaffes which seem very frequently. I do think it’s too early though to come down on him.

Meanwhile , back on ESPN+, PK is still talking about Ed Snieder and Bobby Clarke and how the Flyers out played the Kings all night, yet lost 7-3, calling the Flyers 3rd period melt down just an unfortunate series of plays...Steve Levy went home the moment the broadcast ended.

...to be continued

Man, who was 21, Mason Raymond? gets completely burned by Kopitar while trying to throw a flying hit, only comes back diving into the screen to get scored on. Cinema.

IMO Kempe is probably the MVP so far (Kopi a close 2nd), he more than passes the eye test and rarely makes mistakes. Plays at a high level on both sides of the ice and is f***in fast. Still a long way to go like Kopi was saying...
His progression has been amazing to see over the years. He has become one of the best all around wingers in the game. I don’t remember him being bad defensively or playing a risky game, but playing with Kopitar has definitely molded him. I would be good with him being the next captain after Anze retires. He strikes me as someone who defers to the older players now, but would easily assume and own the role of captain.

Always remembered this great goal call

Man that would’ve been a legacy goal, perfectly encapsulating Kopi’s talents. Crazy to see he has lost a step and has adapted his game and is now on pace for a career year. We all agree Kopi has lost a step, right?

Homer Hughson at his worst
I actually don’t mind a bit of homer if the pbp and analysis is good. Last night on ESPN had neither. Steve Levy is good but he has to carry and guide PK through the broadcast, so it impacts his calls imo.

That is to be expected on a local broadcast and on a Canadian broadcast like that during the playoffs with a Canadian team playing an American team... but

That was WAY over the top and Hughson has a pattern of doing that with Vancouver.
That was one of the worst cases of selective perception since the Iraqi war minister

Levy is a national treasure imo

Love that guy

If you want kids in the lineup, you're going to have to live with growing pains

Clarke casually handed one off at the blueline for a breakaway as well, sucks but that's how you learn

Unless you're Kevin Fiala then

View attachment 948720

Love how excited Fiala was on that play. He tries to do the give & go so often & normally the other King's players don't realize Fiala is an option after he passes. Then he stands there set up for a shot & looks sad. Someone finally got what Fiala was thinking.

PK: I really didn't have a problem with him. Talking over the pbp guy & saying crazy stuff. Philly was out playing the King's in the second. King's chaos hockey gives up chances that would cause Sutter to spontaneously combust, but they don't go in very often. An outsider watching that isn't going to catch it. Like in '12 how every team outplayed the King's.

After Faust my bar for acceptable announcers is really low.
