I don't picture Kempe having this kind of success if they would've kept him at his draft position @ center. He wouldn't be putting up these kinds of numbers. Seems to be the Kings' M.O. under Blake, draft a young C and convert them to wing. I would be curious to see how he'd do right now @ C tho, he's on such a role it might work. He certainly has the speed and defensive ability, very little weakness in his game much like Kopi.

Clearly talking about PLD, lol and I disagree only to the extent of, yes he had red flags, but he also could have (didn't) could have turned his game around, he was still only 25, he could have matured etc, that's a gamble you take,

I would say the success rate of hitting a Kempe in the bottom 3rd of the draft has gotta be what, around 10%-15% maybe? That's without doing any research of course.....but when a team that hits 2 NHLers a year out of 7 draft picks, is labeled extremely well drafting, I'm thinking it's gotta be close to that.
I think with PLD had it been one team he’d had those problems I’d get it. However when the red flags are there with multiple organisations and coaches it’s hard to justify.

I wouldn't think either axl or herby were born yet when that trade for Ron g went down

and the value might be close for the fiala trade and the PLD trades BUT THE LEVEL OF STUPIDITY of the PLD trade makes it one of the worst, everyone but Blake knew that one was historically bad especially losing Gabe V,

I did not say all-time, I said in the last decade, which clearly doesn't include a trade that happened 45 years ago, if he attributed something else to me, well it wouldn't be the first time.

As far as comparing the two trades. I think there is a much bigger gap between Faber and Vilardi than there is between PLD and Fiala. Vilardi is a one-dimensional winger who, over the past three years (142 games) has put up about a 30 goal/ 60 point pace over a full 82 games, that is solid 2nd line production (similar to PLD's career numbers btw) but that just does not compare to a defenseman playing 25+ minutes a game in all situations, being one of the best shutdown players in the league, while also scoring at a 47 point pace his first two seasons in the league. Brock Faber just made a best vs best team USA at age 22, with less than 150 NHL games of experience, does everyone realize how remarkable an accomplishment that is?

kopi is in the top 50 of all time scoring and isn't higher tier. literally in the highest of tiers, but i don't know. just arguing for fun here.

No, I don't consider Kopitar in the highest tier in 2024/2025, I specifically mentioned the Colorado duo because that would be the type of top tier offensive players where you could get away with having a limited offensive player as the third piece to that line.

You consider Kopitar to be at the same tier as MacKinnon?
