In their D+5 seasons, the guy taken with the 2nd pick of the 2nd round (Peterka) is a better player than the guy taken with the 2nd pick of the 1st round (Byfield). How depressing.

This is why you don’t solely draft on size. Whoever chose Byfield over stutzle has to go. Everyone and I mean everyone knew where Stutzle was at and everything about Byfield was HOPE that since he had the tools that for some reason he had the toolbox. Awful draft fire them all.

The thing I hate most about games like this, any why I am so happy the NHL has largely gotten away from dog**** games like this.

Some kid went to his first NHL game tonight and saw 1 goal, 0 by his hometown team and may never give hockey a chance again (and could you blame him?)

What toolbox? Size and speed? What good is size if you don’t use it? What good is speed if your can’t outthink your feet?

Byfield really has become one of the most ineffective players on the team. A complete non-factor. He’s too f***ing timid.

I think they have to give Kuh-LEE-ev one last chance as a scoring line winger when he gets back. There is a very clear opening at the top. Turcotte does a lot of things well, and perhaps if the Kings had a duo like MacKinnon and Rantinen at the top he could be a lunchpail guy on a first line, but for the Kings you just can't have someone who is no threat to score playing 1st line. It may not work out with AK, but they have to give him a look. Let Turcotte go back to the bottom six and crush it down there, like he has been doing for much of the season.

The PP has sucked all season and Hiller's adjustment is to move his best playermaker off and the least effective forward onto it... I believe Byfield is a headcase. I think not making PP1 to start the season messed w him... and now he's all in his head with the coach saying he moved onto PP1 to jump start his game. Total spitballing but thats how i see it, because last season he had game and some confidence.

That's where I'm at. Never felt like I've had the love of the game ripped out of me before. Even when the Kings sucked it was fun watching the peak Avs and Wings rivalry and some legends winding down. Even dumped my Reign tickets this year because what's the point?

Stuck in a dark present with a darker future but it's being run by guys patting each other on the backs for it with no end in sight. At least with Dave Taylor you knew he was running into a hole, not a contract extension.
