While byfield has been disappointing, if he puts up 40-50 pts as center it is a win in my book
His production will go up. These last 3 games hes been getting better and will be back on track.
The streaky play is a bit concerning though.
Kings cant afford this from Byfield when Kopitar retires as there is no one else in the pipeline and a steady 1c is a necessity.

I'll be more worried about that when he's in that actual role rather than 2C/3C.

Right now he's getting 2nd unit PP time and 2nd unit PK time and at least for the latter him and Foegele are arguably the best in the league at it thus far.

not to excuse the production, but I think it'll come, and he's now back on track and doing literally everything else well. And it seemed like he started feeling himself again after tonight's goal.

This is truly an historic evening!!!!
I'm on record not believing it would happen.
Lewis with 100 & 101 before his 1,000 games! Coming up huge Lewie!!!!

Chaos hockey seems to be working. Carry on.

Yea it really is working. You cant get a scouting report on them. They play different every game. They even look different every period within in the same game.

Byfield is an absolute menace on the PK. He's going to be one of the best PK'ers in the league by end of the season. Hiller really needs to send him out there as a winger on Kopi or Phil's line when the other team pulls their goaltender because his puck pursuit and reach causes all sorts of problems. Sutter would do similar things and send out Kopi, Carter and Richards to kill a game. Hiller needs to do the same because coughing up leads in the last minute is annoying AF.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

This is a little random, but one of my favorite new features of the NHL website is their "Goal Visualizer", which allows you to watch the movements of the puck and all players on the ice from overhead when the goal is scored. I wondered if anyone went to pick up the puck just after Lewis scored his 100th goal, but I couldn't see any Kings player doing that during the broadcast. I went to the highlights and couldn't see it either, so I clicked on the EDGE | Goal Visualizer for Lewis's goal.

Turns out #7, Kyle Burroughs went straight over to pick up the puck, which is why he's late to the celly hug.

Props to Burroughs for being a good vet teammate there. Nice pass from Jeannot to get Lewis the puck. Also love how excited Lewis was to score that goal.

I hope this fourth line really comes together.

Quite remarkable being 8-3-3 with SV% of .899 & .844.

Though Minny is not an elite team.
MN are 8-2-2. They may not be elite but they are in great form and last night was their first home regulation loss (3-1-1). It’s a great win, no matter how you slice it.

Speaking more generally, given there are still some question marks and they are clearly still figuring out the system the record is outstanding. There are a few guys that simply have got to the races yet and they are winning through character more than free flowing hockey at times. The good stuff is in patches only.

Hiller is doing something right and they are clearly playing for him, so there is definitely untapped upside still to find. I’m not suggesting this team is a contender as plenty of teams will also improve but I do find some of the pessimistic posting… amusing. It’s definitely a better record than we should’ve expected at this stage. Much depends on QB finding his mojo and I actually think Turcotte is more important than we realise, hopefully he’s back quickly (I.e. it’s not a concussion).

Lewie!!!

Anyone catch the call at 11 min to go in the 3rd?
"& Back and forth and back and forth"
Was that Buck from ice age dawn of the dinosaurs?

Chaos Hockey: Cute passes at the offensive blue line are killing me, well both blue lines, especially form the bottom 6. Dump that puck in & go get it. Is Hiller using the passed to cause little turnovers that then get swarmed & bait teams into getting out of position? Otherwise, he just doesn't get why the bottom 6 & the King's top 6 shouldn't be making those plays at the blue line. Either there's a plan, or it's dumb. 🤔

Nice that the team stepped up & covered for Fila's lack of dumb penalties this game.

I wouldn't worry about streakiness as long as he keeps improving. Kopitar has always been streaky as well but was more productive right from the start. I hate continually making comparisons but Kopitar had a different development path having played against grown men at a much earlier age. Kopitar then also was essentially the number one center following his first ever NHL game on a very bad team which gave him more opportunity or a different way of developing.

Just watched the highlights… of course Byfields goal wasn’t a shot but a redirection… has a breakaway and misses the net completely. This dude’s brain is a bag of cats.

To be fair though… Byfield is a second overall player who’s light years away from the player Kopitar was at his age. I understand the different circumstances but at the end of the day putting sport tires on a Kia soul isn’t going to make it faster than a m2 competition.

Impressive record given the home(4 games)/away(10 games) split.

Team seems sort of meh but it’s really getting the job done.

Without Doughty even.

Minnesota is a subpar team with a hot start.

LA should win games like these.
I don't think you are being fair or realistic here

Minny was only 7 points out last season playing in the toughest division in the league. It was a back to back game

Most teams have a losing record in back to back games

Back to Back wins on the road is something to be proud of
