Hockey night in canada pre and post game is good. It was alot more fun with old grapes, however

Byfield has 5 points.

Do you think if we change the broadcast crew he’ll start earning his contract?

That was a helluva shot, no hesitation etc it's all about the release, tender is moving has no time to get set, that's a great goal there.

First one was brutal
Strongly disagree! Kuemper should have stopped it. It was just above the pad but below his blocker. You time your butterfly stance right, you stop it! Kuemper only faced 20 shots the whole night and he wasn't his best.

You time it when you can get set, there was no getting set, it was a one timer with a wicked release.

There's no timing your butterfly stance, when you don't have time to get into a stance, that's just basic.

I'm disappointed I missed the drama.

I have low standards. I just can't get worked up about it. Nearly all TV sports post game, pre game and intermissions sucks. Regardless of the sport. Regardless of broadcast.

I don't think anyone is really that worked up about it is my point, it's just another annoyance on top of all the other things we discuss. And on that note...

...people are plenty capable of more than one thought at at time.

I'm plenty grumpy that Byfield has reverted to rookie form.

I'm also f***ing grumpy that after grabbing a drink from the fridge the hard hitting analysis is that the shootout was unfair and we deserved a better fate because the Blackhawks skated too slow during it.

Stoll deserves an emmy for keeping a poker face while he had to listen to that.

The notion of having a "timer" in the shootout is patently absurd, especially since there are already regulations for the shots.

The suggestion just sounds like it comes from an ignorant homer fan who only wants changes because the Kings didn't benefit from it. I just think it's either misinformed or insulting, neither of which makes for a good broadcast.

Had someone like Laferriere taken a long time, he would be praised for his "patience."

Agreed, but as a goaltender, I HATE moves.players that do that kind of nonsense, is it legal, sure, is it part of the game, no....and before the argument turns to shootouts are not part of the game, no they aren't but breakaways are, treat it like one, have someone chasing them that starts on the blue line....more in line of what it's supposed to be

Maybe you could do the gig?

You got a blond wig?

Hiller putting Lewis out there at the end with 3-2 lead reeks of him trying to give Lewis the opportunity to get his 100th goal on the empty netter. Because we all know he needs all the open space he can be given to pot a goal. It's ridiculous.
If that even crossed Hiller's mind he should get fired.. Maybe a meaningless game at the end of the season.. Im 99% sure he actually thinks Lewis is legendary defender that can show the younger guys how its done.

Byfield is in a slump. Doesn't help the coach keeps changing the lines so much! Hiller is not the type of coach that will help Byfield regain his offensive production.

We are over a half seasons worth of very little offensively. When does it cease being a slump, and start being something more concerning?

Top me a slump is 1 goal in 10 games, 2 points in 12 games. It's not 2 goals in 44 games, most of those games spent playing next to the teams two best offensive players.

Its definitely concerning. He did start slow last season 4pts in 8 games, then consistently put up points until the last 10 games.. where he went dry 1g1a. He looked better v Chi - had 3 shots on goal and was more noticeable after 3 straight games with no shots on goal which is pathethic.

I agree it’s a concern. The talent to put up the numbers we hope to see is there, so it feel like a confidence issue to me. The poor offensive form from the forward group doesn’t help but he is obviously part of the problem. I’m a huge QB guy and always have been but he needs to take a step and realise that he’s capable of taking over and making it his team. If/when he does that he will be the best player on the roster.

I remember Byfield coming out of the gate last year like a force. So far he's been a big dud, stat watching Stutzle doesn't help either...
That's called King's coaching. Showboating like Kaliyev & Fagemo doesn't get you ice time. If Laferriere scores another one, we may never see him again.

Was never a big fan of Lewis but last year he actually looked much better than the 1st go round...this year not so much he needs to hang up the Blades and turn to coaching or something

Main problem with Lewis is he's blocking guys like Lee and Akil. What does Lewis provide? Last season he avg'd about 1 hit per game.. up to 2 this season. Thats still not much. Good forechecking? He's totally replaceable and has no reason to be on this roster.

That's a great suggestion!
I know Jesse and possibly other people involved in the Kings read some of this stuff, and it makes me feel a little crummy ragging on broadcasters of all things. The fact remains that the presentation does still matter to some of us.

For the record, I don't really understand the point of the "role" either but Heidi filled it well. Personally, I'd prefer everyone talking to me about hockey being either a professional play by play announcer, an educated journalist, or a former player.

I'd love to see Carrylin have a very successful life and career just doing something else.

I used to say that his skillset reminded me a lot of PLD, which in light of what happened here may need to be revised to a different player since PLD is basically "He who shall not be named" on this forum. But I still think at 22 he is a lot like PLD.

I just don't see the superstar skills that some people here do, you just would have seen more by now, and his role on an eventual contending team is more of a 2nd line type, which is fine, every contending team needs a quality 2C. The issue for the Kings is they aren't going to have the 1C due to multiple awful decisions by Bowlby where he could have gotten one (Stutzle, Eichel) or probably been in a position to get one (2023 draft).

He has a point but Carrlyn is the eye candy we all love besides she knows hockey pretty well and is getting better at voicing her opinions...I get the professional stuff but...what I hate is some washed up Jock-Strap telling me what I'm Seeing/Not seeing and babbling throughout the whole broadcast seriously those kinds need to just STFU or is it Shut The Front Door?

I try not to comment on hers and others either for the same reason. I try to focus on why the message itself is troublesome. She seems like a nice person. But there have been some biased and shortsighted takes that, in my opinion, are underestimating the intelligence of Kings fans - which was the opposite of what Bob Miller would do.
