Since it was Chicago, please allow me to paraphrase what I wish Byfield, Turc, Laf, and Clarke said in the post game presser:

Trevor Lewis, while you lay there, hopefully as uncomfortable as you possibly can be, I want you to listen to me. I want you to digest this because before we all go off to play for competent NHL franchises, We have a lot of things we want to get off our chest.

We don’t hate you, Trevor. We don’t even dislike you. We do like you. We like you a hell of a lot more than we like most people in this franchise.

We hate this idea that you’re the best. Because you’re not. We're the best. WE are the best in the world. There’s one thing you’re better at than we are and that’s kissing Rob Blake’s ass.

You’re as good at kissing Blake’s ass as Kopitar is. We don’t know if you’re as good as Drew though. He’s a pretty good ass kisser. Always was and still is.

Whoops! We're breaking the fourth wall!

[waves to the camera]

We are the best hockey players in the world.

We’ve been the best ever since day one when we walked into this company. And we've been vilified and hated since that day, because Mark Yannetti saw something in us that nobody else wanted to admit. That’s right, we are Mark Yanetti guys. You know who else was a Mark Yanetti guy? Brock Faber. And he was given away just like we'll be given away. But the biggest difference between us and Brock is we are going to leave with smiles on our faces.

We've grabbed so many of Rob Blake’s brass rings that it’s finally dawned on us that they're just that, they’re completely imaginary. The only thing that’s real is us and the fact that day in and day out, since we were drafted by this team, we have proven to everybody in the world that we are the best in this franchise, on that blueline, at wing or at center! Nobody can touch us!

And yet no matter how many times we prove it, we're not on your lovely little collector cups. We're not on the cover of the program. We're barely promoted. We don't get ice time when it matters. We're certainly aren't on any crappy dog calendars. We aren'teven considered a part of this "core". We aren't on the signature that’s produced at the start of the games. We're not on Conan O’Brian. We're not on Jimmy Fallon. But the fact of the matter is, we should be.

And trust me, this isn’t sour grapes. But the fact that Drew and Kopitar are still the core of this franchise and we aren't not makes us sick!

Oh hey, let us get something straight. Those of you who are cheering me right now, you are just as big a part of us leaving as anything else. Because you’re the ones who are paying to watch these games right now. You’re the ones that buy those programs that our face isn’t on the cover of. And then at five in the morning at the airport, you try to shove it in our face so you can get an autograph and try to sell it on eBay because you’re too lazy to go get a real job.

We are leaving when our contracts are up. And hell, who knows, maybe we will get traded before that for some washed up scrub. Maybe… We'lljust get to collect money from the press box.
[Punk looks at the camera and waves]

Hey, Arthur Kaliev, how you doing?

The reason we're leaving is you people. Because after we're gone, you’re still going to pour money into this team. We are just a spoke on the wheel. The wheel is going to keep turning and we understand that. Luc Robitaille and Rob Blake are going to destroy this franchise. He’s think they are contenders when they should be a building around us. You know why they don'tbuild arpund us? Because they surround themselves with glad-handed, nonsensical, douchebag yes men, like Jim Hiller who are going to tell them everything they want to hear, and we’d like to think that maybe this company will be better after Rob Blake is gone. But the fact is, it’s going to be taken over by his idiot Marc Bergevin and that doofus Marco Sturm and the rest of this incompetent front office.

Let us tell you a personal story about Rob Blake alright? We do this whole [anti] bully campaign... [mic cuts out]
Lewis is making 800k. A vet with close to 1,000 games of XP that makes the salary cap work & can give a regular shift & PK, night in & night out is valuable.

Cap could be better allocated so that an improvement on Lewis could be brought in.

One bright spot today was when jeannot went after foligno. If jeannot will drop the gloves with that guy, hell drop the gloves with anybody
He just doesn't seem very involved. Throws the occasional hit, will fight. Doesn't have that jump to his game. Get out there & tag someone on your first shift. Start feeling it.

The problem is that the Kings cut bait on him when they were supposed too and now he's been brought back at an unsustainable level of play for really no reason. They are using him like they did in the cup runs but he has nothing left. His spot is easily filled by a kid at that same caphit. He is a player that should get at most 20 games if he's lucky, but him like he's a 70-80 game a season guy. No hard feelings on Lewis but his time with the team (and league) has come and passed. But this management is the "old boys club" type of leadership and it has set this franchise back once again.

I'm just not seeing that kid that can play 4C & fill a PK spot. Turcotte & Byfield should be higher than 4th line. Maybe next year one will be ready.

Helenius could probably step in and do a solid job. Lewis is not a huge problem and gets talked about too much on here. But he wasnt even a great center in his prime so its a weird spot to put him at this point in time.
And he sure as hell shouldnt be out there to close out a one goal game.

Not a lot of reasons to watch this team if you’ve got better things to do while a game is on. Sad state of the franchise with Luc and Rob at the helm. We’re pretty close to a decade of a bunch of wasted time and money.

Guys on the ice were Hiller's call. King's lost that game by not being able to close it out. They spotted Vegas 3? Goals in the 3rd & almost let them back in. Hiller needs to work on closing games out. That's not a Lewis problem.

Helenius is only 21. Don't see any reason to rush him.

I want to post about her almost every night. She seems like a very nice person so I don't like piling on...

But she is not a hockey broadcaster, I've given her a chance. She would be perfect hosting a children's game show or something.
I don't really see what the problem is. Most local broadcasts have a Carrlyn-type; the pretty interviewer host girl.

Was Heidi Androl or Alexy Curry any different?

Carrlyn Bathe seems par for the course to me.

I don’t see the issue on her side. What makes her job really hard is that she is given this imo very outdated ”bimbo girl” role with almost nothing else. For example, ”oh lets make her say something really basic during tv timeouts like, ”this guys father played here…” or even on the desk, it feels like they can’t get out of the gender roles. I’m not saying she has the most detailed input to give but the crew isn’t giving her any favors

She really is a nice person, but she had no journalist background coming in. She's a former icegirl who got promoted and try as she might, just isn't polished enough for a major sports franchise. All the top women in the sports game have a solid resume and have degrees in broadcasting. They all know how to carry an interview and run a pre-post game show, which isn't her strength. I stopped counting the number of times she introduces Stolly as "Former LA King and 2x Stanly Cup champ." Where's Patty O'neal been?

I heard Jim Fox say the 2nd Hawks goal was a good shot. Strongly disagree! While shooters are now taught to shoot low but just above the leg pad, goalies at the same time are trained on how to handle that type of shot. Really gets me when Jim Fox covers up/comes up with an excuse instead of the obvious reason. Kuemper just didn't make the save that was possible.

From what I'm seeing, does Kuemper appear to have some nagging injury because he looks slow on some of his movements?

That was a helluva shot, no hesitation etc it's all about the release, tender is moving has no time to get set, that's a great goal there.

First one was brutal

I agree she is par for the course, but it shouldn’t have to be this way.

I have the pleasure of listening to Cheryl Pounder up in Canada. Played the game at a high level and iher hockey smarts and knowledge are through the roof. Calls it how it as and is very professional in doing so. These are the women commentators that the hockey world needs. Not a pretty face spouting BS

You may be right, but the King's are appealing to a So Cal market that has little hockey awareness overall & not to the rabid hockey fans. Rabid hockey fans aren't goin anywhere. Unless Blake doesn't get canned. 😂

I can't believe you guys are so upset about that.

Someone with an organizational endorsement and spotlight told me to shut up and I’m a bad fan for criticism

And is now talking about a shootout shot clock because we lost a skills competition

I’m gonna unapologetically have an opinion and spoiler alert it’s gonna be a pretty grumpy one

I'm disappointed I missed the drama.

I have low standards. I just can't get worked up about it. Nearly all TV sports post game, pre game and intermissions sucks. Regardless of the sport. Regardless of broadcast.
