If he’s hellbent on keeping the Vatrano-Strome-Terry line, I’d like to see:

Mac-Leo-Killorn/Colangelo
Cutter-Z-Killorn/Colangelo
Nesterenko-Hawkins-Johnston/Leason

I don’t mind those D-pairings listed above, gives Lacombe, Z on D and Minty free reign to be aggressive.

Yeah let’s not put Zegras on the line where he was playing his best hockey of the season upon his return because muhhhhhhhh xGF

That line produced and right now that is the primary concern. Sometimes fancy stats are a little much. We need to start scoring goals and not just come close or look good. Need some dirty goals also.

I’ve said it before , have no issues with Killorn with Leo as long as the other winger is someone like Zegras, Mac, or even Cutter.

I don't know why Rudolf is complaining about reuniting the Cutter-Mac-Fabbri line, especially with such a large sample.

Cutter-Mac-Fabbri
Games = 22
TOI = 178.4
GF = 50.4%
xGF = 38.48%

I could understand saying the GF being higher than xGF being luck. But with such a large sample, there has to be other reasons for such a discrepancy between actual production and fancy stats such as that line can finish on their counters. Anaheim needs actual goals.

Another factor for liking Cutter-Mac-Fabbri is that Mac helped Cutter boost his offense more. Ofc, Mac did help boost Carlsson out as well. Putting the line back together means Cronin has two lines he's depended before that worked recently, the other being the Terry line.

A third factor is to allow Zegras to ease back onto the ice at wing.

You just can’t argue with heavy > light

It actually makes some sense.

Back in the 2022-23 season, it was Mac's rookie year. We had St. Louis on a back-to-back situation on the road, Nov 19th and 21st. Mac's play was rising fast at center that Eakins decided to put Mac at 2C and move Strome 2C to 2RW. Eakins was loading up on talent. Zegras was 1C and Lundy was 3C. Anaheim was totally dominated for a period and a half in the first game as it was StL 4, Ana 0. All four scores were at even strength. Only the Mac line wasn't being dominated on the ice. Then Eakins split up Strome and Mac, making Strome play 2C and Mac 3C. That move made us heavier down the middle and the game no longer was a blowout. The first game ended StL 6, Ana 2.

The question would arise, "Did St. Louis let up or did the changes for Anaheim improve the dynamic on the ice?"

Splitting Strome and Mac on one line to become 2C and 3C, respectively, made a significant difference on the ice for the second game of the back to back. Anaheim lost 1-3, with one of those goals being an EN StL goal and one a PP goal against. It was equal at even strength.

I don't even like those podcast guys and I agree with them on Zegras. And I don't agree that Zegras' best hockey was with Carlsson. That started when he was FINALLY moved back to center.

Also, how about we not play Zegras at wing because he hates it so much that he even said to the media that he hates playing wing.

1) He hates playing wing
2) He clearly plays better at center

Cronin : Play him at wing

I agree I would love Z back at center. But putting him on Leo’s wing gives him top 6 minutes. While throwing him at center with cutter is probably 3rd line minutes.

In a perfect world you take Terry away from vats and strome and make them our 3rd line….. does not seem to be happening yet, so this way you give our two best offensive weapons a chance to develop chemistry, in Z and Leo…. Even if they split them up eventually, down a goal with 10 minutes in the 3rd, chemistry will be good like the oilers throw Leon and McDavid on the same line.

Also a team starved for offense, Terry is carrying his line. McT looked good with Leo for 2 games, and cutter and Fabbri. Maybe they like the cutter / mct / Fabbri 3rd line and hope adding Zegras over ……. McGinn / Isac / Leason / Fabbri make that a legit second line.
