He’s a career 0.29PPG player producing at 0.31PPG this year.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with his play, it’s been his health. If he can prove he’s healthy, he will get a contract. If.
Doubt he gets a contract from us. I don’t blame verbeek being weary of injury prone players. As far as verbeek is concerned, we’ve given him opportunity and he’s played well when healthy. But he can’t stay healthy. I do think that it’s more likely fabbri although also injury prone, and more so than mcginn. Gets a contract from us

I don’t think he gets a contract here because at some point the prospects need to play. But I think he’s absolutely still an NHL player if the leg isn’t ruined.

Fabbri it will depend on his health, and if that line continues working. And, to be frank, if he wants to keep playing on this roster under this coach.

Agreed on injury prone players. We don’t have the depth to absorb the injuries

I know it won't happen, but when Zegras is back I'd like to see the following:
Vatrano Strome Terry
Cutter McTavish Fabbri
Zegras Carlsson Colangelo
Killorn Lundestrom Leason

It'll probably be Zegras Carlsson and Killorn on that 3rd line and Johnston/McGinn with Lundestrom and Leason on the 4th line. Colangelo might be brought up if/when Fabbri is dealt.

I know we won't make playoffs, but we're only 9 points out. If we're "only" 10-15 points out, I wouldn't mind not selling everything at the deadline (maybe just Fabbri and Dumo to open up spots for Colangelo Helleson).

We're a competitive team for the vast majority of time since dec 18 game vs Winnipeg. It came after a 3 or 4 day break.

Our SAT since then is near top 10 and we have beat some great teams.

Yeah I know there's still a lot of pessimism around here, but I can't remember the last time we've had that many solid performances against good teams in such a span.

With two lines finally finding some sort of chemistry, I'm excited to see Zegras back soon with Carlsson. Even though I prefer him at center, there's no question there was some chemistry between the two before Zegras's injury.

At the same time, not sure why the team seems determined to force Carlsson to play with Killorn. The Ducks could be more competitive if they could upgrade his spot, but I don't see that happening in the near future. Regardless, Zegras back means Leason moves down to the 4th and Johnston off the ice. It's a win across the lineup. If Zegras and Carlsson can help each other score more, the games should be continue to be exciting.

Vatrano-Strome-Terry
Gauthier-McTavish-Fabbri
Zegras-Carlsson-Killorn
Harkins-Lundestrom-Leason

Pretty surprised Nesterenko is up as don't think he's had a very good season with San Diego. But it's probably his last big chance and management wants to get another look at him at the NHL level before making a decision on a new contract.
Is he actually going to get a shot though or just put in a grinder role like Colangelo?

We're 8 points out of a playoff spot with 4 teams in between.

We have been playing incredibly well lately, imo. Since around mid-december. Zegras should be back soon. Depending on injuries and weather we can sustain our play, it could surprisingly be an interesting stretch ahead.
Coming back to only not get a point last night hurts a lot though. But if it somehow gives us some extra motivation to play better later in games, then that’s a positive.

January will be very telling. The Ducks have a lot of tough matchups and a condensed schedule. I counted 15 games in 30 days.

One positive is we play most of them on the road, where the team seems to play better.

Trade for or sign a good forward and Ducks might be decent next year. Assuming Dumo, Fabbri, and Vatrano are gone you can run:

Zegras Carlsson FA (dream would be Rantanen)
Cutter McTavish Colangelo
Killorn Strome Terry (Terry might be able to show down the game enough for Killorn to be more effective)

LaCombe Gudas
Mintyukov Trouba
Zellweger Helleson

Dostal/Gibson

If it's a younger but good fit winger, I'd even offer up the 1st this year. Otherwise, make a run at Rantanen or Marner if they make it to FA. Marner will be 35 his final season of a 7 year deal and Rantanen would be 36.

I don’t think there’s any way sennecke isn’t at the least put on the Leo plan and with the ducks the entire next season.
