2024 25 Roster Thread 3 the Nations and after

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I've been seeing some positive comments about Drysdale recently, so I wanted to check things out.

Ah. I see. That's not to say he hasn't shown improvement. I sure as hell don't know. But that's probably not a repeatable route to success.

*Edit* Photos seem to be broken again. You know the first hill on a roller coaster? That's the graph of the Shooting streak the Flyers are on with Drysdale on the ice.

It seemed sus when I looked up his game logs recently. Last 11 games he has 3 goals, which is an uptick in production, but he also has 0 assists. I haven't been watching the games so I can't comment on his play, but this screams of "unsustainable production" when your only production is goals and you haven't been able to match it with any assists.

The month leading up to the deadline was probably his best hockey as a Flyer. Still a disaster defensively, but made good decisions with the puck and picked his spots well jumping into the play in transition. Definitely rode a confidence wave.

He's carrying some of those positives forward, but it's hard to judge anyone right now because the whole team has checked out. Everyone looks like shit.

This is the first thing I look at these days. Is there some inexplicable shooting heater while the player looks generally the same?

That settles that, then.

The big thing to me is that it looks like he’s spending less time thinking, and more time doing. Setting aside any numerical production, he’s processing his role better. Still doesn’t look like a 6OA, but he at least looks like a 6D, instead of like a 6-year-old.

He's half as good as Ghost offensively, while being worse at defense

Not sure I agree with that as they look engaged and playing hard to me. Now they just are not a good team that lacks talent in every area.

32 year old Couturier after two back surgeries being one point behind Tippett and seven points ahead of Cates doesn't fill with with confidence about those two 26 year olds whom the Flyers view as core pieces.

The guy is a total husk.

Of course I suspect Tortorella's style is a worst case for him; he's a total team player and going along with a pure effort driven, creativity-smashing scheme is bad news. But that Tippett contract is already a disaster. Should have sold high on him.

Did Tippet really ever have "high" value? Don't get me wrong do not like that contract. It was unneeded at the time. Really wonder what he would have returned in a trade prior to that deal.

Not that Couturier has any value, wonder if will ask out after the season. Possible at this stage he is content. Would hope not. Same for Sanheim. He has 6 years left; great value. Clearly one would hope he can see this team is so far off from any real contention he would want out. Just cant find the attraction to want to stay. Especially when JT gets an extension.

I mean, no.. probably not. But "selling high" if Briere actually gets full value for whatever he is, is gonna be better long term than this contract

Briere has already shown he has no idea what selling high means. Just look at the last handful of trades. Then look at who he has refused to trade. Assuming he was allowed as we all know JT has a huge say who stays and goes.

One year into Tippett’s eight year deal I still don’t know why they signed him for this long. He’s in his athletic prime currently & his numerical profile generally doesn’t age well.

Even the one thing people point to his shooting/goal scoring ability but the numbers is smoke in mirrors. He generally underperforms his expected goals models & generally just gets his 25 or whatever goals by shooting a lot whether it’s a good, bad, or indifferent quality of shot.
