The mediocre train continues to chug along. Anyway you look at the org they've failed. Did they actually "rebuild" during their "rebuild" period? No they failed. Did they garner any on ice success during this time? No they failed. Have they built the culture that will bring winning teams back to Philly? Even though culture is garbage you win by having talented players in modern coached nhl systems they still failed at this. This team stinks
exactly.. my guess is we pick a nobody at 12 yet again

Seeing Charlie's annoying ass being straight up killed for not covering the flyers, but for covering the fans and trying to bash everyone that doesn't agree with torts or the organization is such a beautiful sight to see, we truly have the worst media members in the nhl

Briere has to hire his own guy. A GM of a losing team usually gets to hire two coaches. After two duds, he gets canned as well. Whether he likes it or not Briere is stuck with Tortorella being his first hire. If Tortorella’s replacement fizzles, Briere will be dropped into the All Gone machine with him.
At this point I'm all in on throwing the kitchen sink at Carle to come coach here, keep Brad shaw on, and fire rocky Thompson, hell they can hire radio and get better power play results, hell at this point even if they don't go after carle id much rather give jessica Campbell a try, but torts has to go

Now we have a tank-like roster, but it came too late; we had to make a needless push for play-offs for 60 games of the season. Hopefully next season we start the suckage from get-go and don't go out of our way to sign needless veteran ''cullltaaaah'' contracts like EJ, Hathaway etc. Play Andrae, play Ābols etc. One can hope.

He needs to get called out more. He spends about 10% of his time reporting on the team and 85% editorializing in their favor by shitting on fans for daring to ever doubt anything. The remaining 5% is reasonable takes on podcasts he knows nobody will hear

Outside thought. I wonder if the Jets are worried about extending Connor and trade him this summer? I bet the Flyers would be in on that

Just my feeling but I don't believe that playing Michkov, Andrae, Abols, Drysdale, York, Brink and other young players in order to break them into becoming young NHL players is Tortorella's cup of tea. He wants to play vets in order to win. It could be that Briere told him that the game is up for this season with the PO hopes. That's when the trades started to go down.
During the last two games, Tortorella looks to lack motivation behind the bench. He's leaving things up to Thompson and Shaw. During his last season in Columbus he said that he'd never again go into a season where he didn't have another year on his deal. Well, that's where he is after this year. Combine that with his desire to play vets for a PO chase, you have to believe that he's out of here. Good. The Sooner the better. Let Jones go behind the bench for the duration. Rather that then a disinterested coach bullying young players.

Jones? Bold strategy.

I hope the bolded is true. However, do we trust the Flyers FO in picking a good replacement?

If we're not going to have our head coach actually coach, let's have some fun with it. One game, it's Jonesy. Next game, Bill Barber's back! Then let Deslauriers coach. Maybe have Gritty take one. Have that be a raffle prize instead of a 50/50. The Isles game, have Patrick Roy coach both teams. Season finale? COC.

"And in the last 10 games, Poll the Crowd resulted in a 20.9% PP success rate, or a full 5.7% better than with Rocky Thompson running it."

I'm not the best person to assess defensive play, but it feels like he's gotten a better instinct for when to activate in the offensive zone and when not to. He isn't thinking about it as much, so he's not that split second late (and therefore a hair out of position) like he used to be.

I haven't watched much lately. Has he looked good because he's scoring goals or is his all around game looking better?

I had the same thought, lol. Is his play outside of scoring actually better?
He's still a bit of a trainwreck defensively, but he is picking his spots better offensively.

He's also carrying the puck with more confidence and making smarter passes.

His goal scoring is the result of the above. He has a long way to go, but there has been positive progress.

He is playing with confidence and is stronger on the puck. He’s creating on his own and has good instincts. His recent production is more a result of his play as opposed to a nice pass from Michkov for example.

He’s been fine of D too. He was a train wreck earlier.

To me, it seems like a core like neck or back or ab injury has resolved.
