2024-25 Roster Thread #3: the Nations and after.

I pointed it out elsewhere, but we have had numerous players leave over the years and talk about how they had to rebuild their game after Flyers "development" destroyed their game. Frost and Farabee are setup guys who were forbidden from using that skillset in favor of becoming board grinders. They have years of wrong, bad instincts to undo.

Meanwhile, the guys we got in return are entering the Flyers skillgrinder and will only get worse. Every time we bring in someone new, even if it's just Hathaway or Hayes, they are like a breath of fresh air and within a year or two they're just part of the mud pit.

We could watch it with Patrick before his brain became goo. He had a precise touch on his passing that nobody else on the team could match when he was fresh out of the draft. Year later that was gone. Pure dump and chase. Again, that was before the brain stuff. That was just natural Flyers development in progress. We've watched Michkov become less dynamic and creative as well. This is what the Flyers do, and it's what they've done with everyone they can for over a decade now.

1 guy already WAS a waiverwire guy FFS.

🤬🤬🤬
That guy has just as many points as Farabee while making much less who can be let go after the season. Farabee is making 5 million for the next 4+ years while giving you next to nothing in production.

Want to make the case they sold low and should have waited. That’s fine.

because this Org. NEVER sells on the high.. they grind a player down into a nub then wonder why the rest of league doesnt wanna pay much..

they do it over n over n over, and will continue to do so...

being a flavourless board grinder is what this Org. expects from all its players..

Thank you, it all depends on me and me only. Sorting some inner struggles and demons. This very moment I do feel better, tho, thanks.

I hear what you are saying but to say Patrick had better touch than G or Voracek is asinine.

For a brief second he did. He could float a stretch pass on transition that just perfectly settled on the tape of its target. An infant could receive it in stride.

Then we developed him.

I am still pretty certain that even with sub-optimal development...

were it not for the migraine issues Patrick would have ended up at worst a damn good 60 point 2C in his prime. That was the rough floor of the trajectory he was on.

We didn't have time to really figure out what his toolbox could have been, but yeah on raw tools alone he should have done that

I was thinking of the trades the team has made with the 'Bus lately, and other than Leighton for Mason (+3rd?), they have pretty much stunk. Hartnell for Umberger. Voracek for Atkinson. Bob for Leier and Stolarz. Maybe we (the royal we) should stop trading with those guys.

Even the Provo trade was lackluster if you break it down asset by asset.
