I don't know if he's going to bust, but putting him on the team next year definitely makes me nervous.
Konecny was a (imo) much better prospect at the same age, and he started in the NHL in his D+2 and was decent for his age but put up 20 points. Frost had a monster D+1 compared to Luchanko's so far, and look how that turned out. Farabee came over in his D+2 and the Flyers "developed" him into a camp dump with negative value.
My point is, better forward prospects than JL have been through here and struggled, despite their better play and pedigree. The team is setting another young player up for failure.
As vigorously in favor of seeing him for his little free period this year as I was, I am just as vigorously opposed to bothering to bring him in again next year. There's no need. He wasn't anything mindblowing in his stint, and his season is nothing special this year. He'd be better off playing more where he isn't overwhelmed right now.
