2024-25 Roster Thread #2: Midseasonnar

That suggests that the Cap wasn't much of an issue, and they were less interested in dumping Farabee's cap hit than dumping Farabee (i.e. they saw him as a bottom six forward going forward who wasn't a good fit for that role). And that they could have easily paid Frost if they wanted to keep him.

It also means TK, Sanheim and Tippett are bargains.
A bad contract today does not get better if the cap increases. It’s still bad.
if you over pay for something and regret doing so, but later find $100 out on the street sure you’re $100 richer but you still overpayed in the first place.

No, it means that they are going to massively overpay Laughton & Cates on their next deals and sign a couple of fading stars to huge bloated deals as well.

Does it mean players who go through waivers earlier in the season will get more money?

Thinking about this roster... they're going to end up going totally scorched earth whether they want to or not. It will be messy.

Couturier at this point has to be dealt, the Flyers f***ed up giving him such a long contract. They'll have to retain salary. He'll never be the player he once was.

Laughton and Cates are just above replacement level players. The kind that you cycle because youll pull their replacement by the draft.

Tippett blows

York's value is going to go the way of Frost/Farabee

TK and Sanheim are going to waste careers here

They better blow it up fast.

I hate Tippett.

you should buckle in..

cuz they will never go scorched earth.. they believe just a few more grinder vets and the rebuild is complete..

all the "problem" youth n skill will be gone.

All of that is false. The trade was clearly cap dumps for the Flyers. Creating cap room for them to try and acquire top talent either by trade or by free agency. Honest question, how long have you been a Flyers fan? Are you not aware of what they do? The cap going up doesn't change the fact that all 3 of those contracts were ill advised by the Flyers. Especially Tippett. For example the cap going up doesn't change that Tippett is not remotely the kind of player that you sign to an 8 year contract.

I'm buckled in alright, I'm ready for the next 7 mil grinder signing, checking wins cups, that's what I was sold by the Flyers, the wolf ticket that keeps on giving!

It means Frost was 3 times the bargain tippet is, seeing as they are putting up points at the same rate.

Never doubt, though. He will

Hopefully Kuzmenko strings couple of high scoring games and they lock themselves into stupid contract before he ends the year riding the bench. Pelletier is prototypical current era flyer.

That Finishing stat is high comedy after we keep draining away playmakers. And routinely only send one player to the net while the other two forwards hang at the half boards. Gotta stem the bleeding and such. Playoffs mode.

So they're actually stupider than it seems

Frost and Farabee were also gone in two years.

When you project the Flyers forward:
1) Cates, Jett and a top six center to be named later (draft pick/trade)
2) Tippett, Foerster, Couts, Barkey, Pelletier at LW
3) Michkov, TK, Brink, at RW

The top six center is the key acquisition.

It's much easier to fill out wings, either big muckers who can skate or smurfs with skills are available in the later 1st rd and 2nd rds - but full sized two way centers are hard to obtain outside the top 15 or so.
Poehling won't be moving on. He's an organizational favourite. They like try hards that will be completely devoted to the coaching staff and absurd and outdated system they use. He's a "culture" guy.
