The development or the drafting isn't fine if the team is not improving in end results. I don't want to hear they are winning games. They need to be winning games in regulation and competing for a deep run in the playoffs to be improving.

Bif, that thing that happens anytime they win a couple of games is happening again.
Tippett, Farabee and York have all taken a step back. Tororella is currently stalling the development momentum of Michkov. There isn't a single young Flyers player that from the first year of Tortorella until now where you say that player has taken a strong leap in development and is more than they've been to get excited about. They are being taught to play a non winning style of hockey. The next coach will have to come in and drastically change how they play if they ever get any top talent. This is the reality that you fail to see.

The only player who has gotten better under Tortellini is Risto, and that's because of Shaw, and he still stinks. The other players who have improved, TK, Sanheim, have done so despite the coaches, not because of them.

Yep. From Hakstol to the horrendous safe version of AV to Tortorella. A shitload of instincts need to be changed. It's lost years of development. It takes a long time to really fix.

In today’s fun with manipulating numbers, watch what happens to roster age when you just send Lehtera and Filppula down, as most of us were begging to happen. So on the one hand, that is something I think Briere is better at — no one will ever see Cal Petersen up here. On the other, none of these age calculations are meaningful in any way. You can make them say whatever you want.
The average roster age is between 26 and 28. That happens every year. Technically it was the youngest in 2018-19 when it snuck just under 26. But that’s finding meaning in tiny differences well within margin of error.

Maybe because they focus on creating high percentage scoring opportunities?
They are now 6th in HDCF for the entire season, 2nd since 11/25.
You're going to have a higher Sh% if you shoot less from the perimeter and more in dirty areas.

Sanheim is not anymore physical than he was when he was the Flyers best dman in 18-19 and 21-22.
Disagree. He is much better along the boards and asserting himself physically.

The 25 and under scoring plugs are always funny considering the NHL is the only major sport that let's a player go to unrestricted free agency at 27 no matter service time.

They don't though. I've covered this repeatedly. The things that happen before a play matter a LOT. Tortorella bans the things that are most effective. Brink ignoring Tortorella is an important reason why he's so successful. That's why it's not sustainable.

Brink is the smartest player on the team, next to Couturier. That's why he's so effective, he's always in the right place to break up a break out, take a pass, find a rebound, bump a guy off the puck. And he has great hands to do something with the puck when he takes it off the other team.
It's going to take a hell of a lot of a winning in REGULATION WIN STREAK. Figured you need to have that emphasized. As they are 5 below the 16th best team in wins in regulation.

Thanks for your reply, dead. I agree that the past GMs were impatient to move the team ahead and that patience is a key factor to rebuild properly. But patience is largely required by those outside the front office while the executives take the many steps in rebuilding. Patience can cloak indecisive inaction, which is becoming increasingly apparent under Briere. Rebuilding is incompatible with "I like our club", even if he thinks that this is part of negotiations.
I do like some of the few things Briere has done, including the Provorov and Walker trades and, of course, not just picking Michkov but orchestrating the meetings with him to assess his desire to come to North America asap. But as described ad nauseum, Briere's seeming impatience resulted in a questionable leveraging of a prospective whose perceived value was sky high. I know you disagree with this point, but I'll assert it anyway.
You are right that the Flyers have a high proportion of <25yo players on their roster, which is a positive. However, none save Michkov had star potential and aren't blossoming at present into such. Be patient with them, you will say, and I can't entirely disagree given their age. I would be more patient if there were prospects with high upside pushing them, but alas the Flyers prospect system is now in the lower half of the league now that Michkov has graduated. Like I posted, the top two prospects have tempered expectations on their impact to the roster, which is far below the Flyers' desperate need for high talent on the top line/pairing.
When the FO is content to draft, trade for, produce, and ice Robins and Alfreds, serious Stanley Cup aspirations are a vain hope.

This is the thing that pisses me off. Two and a half seasons of Tortorella and this is what is happening. This the culture that they are so proud of creating? Give me a break! It's a loser's style of hockey.
When Tortorella was hired, I would have agreed that following AV, there was a need for creating accountability with the club. My hope was that he could do that. However instead what he has created here is not really accountability. Tortorella has his pets that can do no wrong while others get benched, press boxed or demoted for the most insignificant of reasons. It's a grease fire on ice.
