Report is they put Poehling on IR. If true, and Abols was called up, a really rebuilding team would play him every game and not need a second injury to force them to play him.

What does culture mean if all you're fostering is a team of losers who can't even make the playoffs? This whole organization is lost. Imagine investing and back an organization that doesn't care about winning as much as loyalty and culture. Flyers are about to be out of the the playoffs for the 5th straight time. Would be the 2nd time in their history (last time was 89-94), yet apparently this is OKAY!

Also, keep in mind, this is a club that won't draft BPA. They will only draft someone that fits the mold of what they want. This team is destined to fail.

There's no mystery here. You nailed it. Beloved player. I don't think any old player would have worked the way they wanted. Most people loved him before he fell off a cliff at the end.

More like they have no plans for Bonk to run the PP, and they would have liked to see Luchanko with some offensively skilled wings getting real minutes rather than 4th line and PK duties.

They want to see players in roles that translate to the NHL for evaluation purposes.
I'm sure they're happy to have Barkey and Bonk on London, which is practically a pro program.
On the other hand, I suspect they were unhappy Jett wasn't traded to a better team.

Bonk's projection is 2nd pairing. Luchanko's projection is middle six. Both scouting reports say they don't really have any elite skills that make them stand out.

I hope they become important players for the Flyers, but they are almost certainly not top of the lineup guys.

I don't think "blasted" is an accurate description, "disappointed" would be closer to the truth.

Bonk is a 2nd pair guy, which is fine where he was drafted, he's going to be a smart, physical (probably end up 6'2 220), CYA RHD who can pair with Andrae, York or Sanheim, or if they draft an offense first LHD this summer. If Andrae/Bonk is a solid top 4 line, they're in pretty good shape with Seeler/Drysdale as your 3rd pair.

I don't know how you project Jett, he's a season behind draft peers like Catton b/c he only played in the top 6 at 17. Playing for Guelph suppresses his scoring and his development, on say London, he's probably a 1.5+ ppg center. Problem is I don't see Guelph adding much forward talent next season, ideally they'd stash him in the AHL for a season, but that's not allowed.

I'm not the best at evaluating skating but I think Oliver Moore was the best skater at the tournament. Luchanko is probably close to the top but it's mostly his straight line skating. The only guy that popped up in my head as better other than Catton was Molendyk. @Magua is probably the better guy to ask.

Laughts is only 19 months older than Abols.

I hope they become important players for the Flyers, but they are almost certainly not top of the lineup guys.

Canada left higher skilled guys off the roster entirely.

I also heard that Briere said they aren’t shopping Risto but have received calls about him. Were the calls that he received from other teams saying not to even think of calling them to see if they’re interested in trading for Risto?

It’s so long down the list of issues with Team Canada’s thought process if it’s even there at all. If Canada truly picked the best players available Luchanko might not even be amongst that best 13 forwards or whatever let alone be someone pushing for more ice time. Bonk likely makes it but again if it was truly the best players selected he’s likely taking on a lesser role than what he played at that tournament.
