As usual, too much is read into these moves.
They're rebuilding, 2027-28 has been the target, that hasn't changed (when the 2025 draft will be NHL ready). So everything is done in that context, not winning this season or rushing prospects.

Andrae had a hot start, but got beat up a bit and was struggling.
Drysdale was struggling, had a hot streak on his return, then got put with Zamula and struggled.

Briere have to take into account options, roster limitations and potential trades this spring.
Andrae will be back up at some point, question is who you pair with him at RHD if you trade Risto.
And who do you pair with Drysdale?
Two raw young D-men on the same pair is asking for trouble and can hinder development.

They've paired Andrae/Grans in LHV last night. They might keep them together and promote them together in the spring if they move Risto. Not sure Zamula is in their long-term plans.

York - Sanheim
Seeler - Drysdale
Andrae - Grans/Zamula

Starting off this post with: “As usual, too much is read into these moves” is top notch work and gaslighting.

It’s not like the team is awful or anything and these types of moves have been pointed to ad nauseam as why this organization is where it is.

Everything below that statement is just pure made up fantasy in your head to absolve the organization of any wrong doing.

Just once we ask that you point to a move and say “yeah, that’s kinda f***ed up” before the dirt is thrown on their dead decaying fired bodies.

Which Flyer player has developed beyond expectations in the last decade?

TK, arguably Sanheim, and?
Sanheim was a mid 1st, quality top 4 Dman is pretty much fulfilling expectations, not exceeding them.

Outside of TK, it’s probably just Lindblom, Ghost and believe it or not Cates. Lindblom before he got sick, was way outperforming expectations for a 5th and Ghost was doing the same as a 3rd. Of course this idiot organization saw no value in Ghost but that is a whole other tale of woe and stupidity.

Cates, in just being an NHL regular, has exceeded expectations for a fifth round pick.

oh, so now 2.5 years is the target

Huh
I said 2027-28 before Michkov came over.
He was originally supposed to come over in 2026-27, so one season to adjust to the NHL.
And the same timing for the 2025-26 draft haul, who should start arriving in 2027-28.

Holmgren isn't running the show, thank god - since we'd have already traded Farabee, Frost and a couple draft picks for a veteran center and another player.

Briere is acting like there's no urgency because there's no urgency.
They're probably going to be mediocre next season.
Hopefully some improvement by 2026-27, especially a goaltender emerging as a reliable starter.

The only year that has been stated is by Keith Jones that it would take more than one year but less than four prior to the '23-'24 season.

This, of course, was poo-poo'd.
I don't listen to Jones, part of his job is selling hope to STHs.
And Jones has been deliberately vague, something something about we may have cap room in a year or two but we have a bunch of contracts coming up, yada yada yada . . .
More like we'll have more flexibility but no commitment to any course of action.

If they had average goaltending, they're probably a 90 point team or so.
But to be a SC contender, they have to become a consistent 100+ point team.
So a bunch of work yet to be done.

There should be urgency. They're two years late in starting a rebuild to compete during Michkov's prime.

They're not going to give away Zamula just to play Andrae right now.
They have to figure out what they have in Lycksell, but to give him steady PT, they have to move a forward.
It'll all work out. Or not.

Laughton is having a much better season than last year which will help his TDL value (as will having only 1 1/2 left on his contract).

They don't have to give away Zamula. Send Johnson down to the minors as he bears no relevancy to this club. Rotate Andrae/Zamula/Drysdale/Seeler as they see fit.

They have to figure out what they have in Lycksell, but to give him steady PT, they have to move a forward.

Seems like they can't figure out what they have in Lycksell because there is no opportunity for Lycksell to play, again. What happened to the revolving door you claimed for years on end?

Like above, send Deslaurier down to the minors as he bears no relevancy to this club.

It'll all work out. Or not.

...or not?

No f***ing shit. And with the track record this current management has and this club has held over the last 12 years... yeah... I'm learning towards NOT.

Laughton is having a much better season than last year which will help his TDL value (as will having only 1 1/2 left on his contract).

With 2.5 years left Briere/Jones stated it would take a massive overpayment to get a guy like Laughton off the Flyers.

With 1.5 years left then the only logical thought is now the value has gone up. You said yourself, he's having a better season. Couple that with his more affordable contract, and, well... which team is going to overpay for a Scott Laughton, your typical dime-a-dozen player?

They the third youngest team in the NHL, a tenth of a year older than the Habs.
As long as they don't trade assets/prospects for over 30 veterans, I'm fine.

Johnson and Delo hardly play, I don't want a prospect taking their seat in the press box.
Prospects should play on a regular basis, whether in Philly or LHV.

They're going to make moves this spring, and give some LHV players 20 game auditions after the TDL.
There is some urgency with Lycksell, due age and impending UFA status.
There is none with Andrae or the others.

It's past time for the organization to show its colors. Tortorella has been here for two and a half seasons and we don't see a winning formula of play developing on the ice. There is no offensive scheme; sensible PP; connection play between the forwards and defensemen; defensive play lacks cohesion due to the constant shifting of pairs; etc. Its a lousy product that by this time ought to be more coherent.
I can give Tortorella & Co. the first year off as it should have been a shakedown to see who can/can't play here followed by a house cleaning. Last year ought to have been when effective schemes of play should have been employed. By the end of the season, it was obvious that that didn't happen. This year has been more of the same. There is no reason to continue with Tortorella. He has nothing positive to offer.
Its time to get someone in here to lead the club who can bring along young players and install sensible systems of play. I hear a lot of chatter regarding Tortorella bringing in culture. The right kind of culture comes from playing intelligent hockey and playing up to ability not knuckle dragging. No one is expecting a SC out of this team right now but being outplayed by The Wings and CBJ isn't acceptable. Wimpy needs to bring out the hook on this guy.
