If a guy signs a 4 year extension, that usually means he would have returned more than a mid-round pick. Or the team butchered the contract. Could go either way!

He apparently took a discount too.
I'd say the best they could have gotten for Seeler was a late 3rd (from a PO team)
Veteran contracts are pretty substantial.

Roy (29) 6y/$5.75M
Tanev (35) 6yr/$4.5M
Dillon (34) 3yr/$4M
Kulak (30) 3yr/$4M
Walker (30) 5yr/$3.6M
Carrier (28) 3yr/$3.75M

Which one of you nice gentlemen here had the charts of Frost vs Tippett that showed how many great chances Morgan has ruined from near the net?

I'm convinced Andrae's demotion has nothing to do with his play and all to do with the roster jam.

This is Torts covering Briere's incompetency so he throws Andrae under the bus. Much better that way as it looks like "the process" of development. This dumb fanbase gobbles up everything Torts says anyways, so why not?

Typical PR spin. Predictable.

Torts is so full of shit.

If his standard for York is "ive seem you be great...so playing okay or just good is not acceptable"...why isnt that the standard for say Tippett? Tippett has had great stretches in his career...but he wasnt benched when he was bad to start the season.

He so clearly has a bias against smaller skilled guys (or bigger guys that dont play physical). When they lose, an Andrae or York or Frost or Mich are always gonna be the targets. Always.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. The core issue with this org is their inherent bias against smaller skilled players and how they greatly overrate bottom of the line up guys. This philosophy survives across GMs and coaches bc they always hire ones that agree with them.

I think it’s an organizational thing, that they live guys who overvalue effort, and players who seemingly have a strong work ethic.

It’s not a bad quality but’s it’s overdone.

There are favourites for sure, but it’s rarely the talented guys. That goes back to even before Torts. It’s the Bobby Clarke curse.

Guy is a buffoon.

A competent organization that was rebuilding or retooling would have a head of hockey operations who would call in the GM to discuss this situation. They would then call in the HC and tell him that his services were no longer needed. Since it’s the Flyers, nothing will happen and the HC will be praised for correctly assessing Andrae’s play.

They joked on Charlies podcast that ever since Charlie refered to Andrae as a top 4 dman to Torts and Torts flipped out, Torts has sourrd on Andrae.

They joked but honestly thats what it sounds like. Hes pissed because he got too much praise too soon and they need to keep him from getting a big head.

It amazes me that people actually defend this pettiness.

Charlie said on his podcast while it was a cap/roster move before the roster freeze. He said it was made easier for Andrea to be the guy because he’s just not in Tortorella’s plans currently. Tortorella wasn’t going to play him much if at all over the next two games.

He couldn’t explain or really find rationale as to why Andrea is in Tortorella’s doghouse fwiw.
I can explain,

He’s a non-elite, offensively minded, non-physical player. Torts undervalues that type of player.

Oh, I’ve believed that since the second he singled out COC’s comment when they decided to scratch him.

That’s exactly what happened. Outside voices must be ignored. Only Torts matters. He is judge, jury, and executioner which is fine in a lot of cases but Torts is a certified asshole.

This for sure. They dislocated shoulders patting themselves on the back for having the biggest team in the league in the mid to late 90s and won squat.

Somehow, they conveniently forget that some of their most skilled and successful players, Mark Howe, Brian Propp, Kimmo Timonen, Mark Recchi, Jeremy Roenick, Simon Gagne, Claude Giroux and of course, Clarke himself were all average or small in their eras. Shit, their best player today, TK and their soon to be best player, Michkov are both smaller players.

Yet they remain obsessed with size and grit. They are locked into the past like no other organization in pro sports.
