I would like to see Richard-Laughton-Tippett, with the goal of keeping Tippett away from TK or MM.
Agreed, he’s not a 70 point player, but he was playing better than many of the Flyers other forwards. Both Tippett & Laughton should be sitting over him, they’ve been horrible. Why didn't you post 24-25?
He's not a 70 point player. He got lucky with a few of his points, but the fact does remain -- he played very well in his 7 games with the flyers. He should still be on the roster IMO.
They are 22nd in point percentage, with 11 eastern conference teams in front of them.
I think they haven’t been playing as well as the could be, but they need to turn it around quickly.
You didn't even need the meme.... we visualized it.one does not easily sit a foundational pillar of #culture...
I thought they weren't concerned about making the playoffs. After all, you said that Torts understands and has said it roughly a billion times. You realize the Flyers are only 2 points out of a PO spot.
They're not giving up on this season quite yet.
If Ersson gets healthy they have a legitimate shot, doubt they're going anywhere with Fedotov/Kolosov.
Buffalo 23, Boston 23, Flyers 21, NYI 21, CBJ 20, Detroit 20 - fighting for 2 spots
NYR 25, FLA 25, TB 24 aren't exactly out of reach
Just took a peak at Seeler’s numbers this year. Yiiiiiikes. It was predictable but this early into the extension is rough.
Still believe he has a place in the lineup over… Brink and Farabee right now, both those players need to wake the F up. Farabee seems to be turning a corner, I think Brink got jerked around too much this year to hit a real flow. Also the way Tyson is getting deployed right now he might as well go to the AHL and get big minutes, it’s kind of a disaster, but I think Richard earned a spot in the here and now.

This team is incapable of evaluating players and selling high. Everyone with sense knew how this would play out.
Criticizing Laughts and Tippy? Really? Go to your room right now young man!Agreed, he’s not a 70 point player, but he was playing better than many of the Flyers other forwards. Both Tippett & Laughton should be sitting over him, they’ve been horrible.
what does it say around the league when even krug dont wanna play here. This team tried to trade Sanheim for Krug.
That would have been one of the worst trades in Flyers history.
It's amazing we hear they would rotate prospects through during a rebuild to see if they can play. Then when one shows promise the minute, no second, they can find a way to banish him back to the AHL they do so without figuring out a way to keep him in the NHL and rotate players that he's better than out so he can play and sit in a logical plan rather than just throw him back in the AHL and hand wave that he got a chance.
Briere on the pod today
Is there a TLDR? I can only take 2-3 lies and 2 strokes of Torts' yogurt slinger before i lose my mind.
They care about competing for a PO spot, not necessarily winning one.I thought they weren't concerned about making the playoffs. After all, you said that Torts understands and has said it roughly a billion times.
Is it that they actually DO care about making the playoffs?
It's November 26th. Why even bring up these point totals?
Right now there's no room at the inn.
It's better for player development than half a season of meaningless games playing out the string.
Right now there's no room at the inn.
Andrae won himself a job, it's now his to lose.
You gonna sit Risto? Playing his best hockey and increasing his value.
You gonna play Grans and Drysdale together, talk about a recipe for disaster that would hurt both players.
Grans had a taste of NHL hockey, he both flashed more talent than expected and showed he has things to work on. Back on the Phantoms, he'll be on 1st pair, PP, PK playing 20+ minutes a night. This spring or next fall he'll get another shot, he played well enough to go from the fringe to being a real prospect again.
Richard is 28 in a couple weeks, he's not a "prospect." He's an AHL plus player who'll get another shot if there's an injury or trade. Meanwhile he can help the Phantoms make the playoffs.
Lycksell (25) is the only other NHL ready forward, bad puck luck but otherwise solid for LHV. He's competing with Richard for the call up spot.
Tuomaala is a prospect, but they're not going to rush him up b/c at 21 he's still learning how to play at 5x5, he can score on the PP but is an adventure 5x5.
Part of rebuilding is patience, you don't rush players, you let things work out over time.
Damn that ends up being at least 17 phone calls!Nothing until 20min mark on trades. Says phones ringing past 7-10 days. Young guys/assets and some vets people have interest in. Teams calling "we all know who they are".
Accountability and the lack of wanting to be called out on it.How the hell can a team this thin have no room at the inn?
There are zero meaningless games when helping players develop. You actively hurt player development by playing people who have zero business playing and either sitting or keeping players that could be developing down in the minors. They care about competing for a PO spot, not necessarily winning one.
Same reason they want the Phantoms to be a PO team.
It's better for player development than half a season of meaningless games playing out the string.
Coaches can't abolish human nature. It's the responsibility of the coach you do everything possible to excuse to develop players no matter where they are in the standings. That's the gig. That's what the money is for. If he can't do it, find someone who can.
You don’t need more intense hockey. You need quality minutes against nhl caliber teams to learn how to play in the nhl.Coaches can't abolish human nature.
Games between teams fighting for playoff spots are more intense, which is a better environment for young players to understand what it takes to stay in the NHL. When you get to March, and the playoffs are realistically unattainable, players tend to focus on stats (next contract) and their tee times on their off days.
