Probably Dillabaugh's call.

Fedotov was clearly "broken" to start the season, I'd expect he's getting a lot of work on technique and maybe some conditioning and flexibility training. Given what they owe him, and potential trade value, they'll give him every opportunity to succeed.
Thanks for your reply, dead. As Tortorella is a control freak, I am pretty sure he didn't leave this decision, that he has emphasized several times, up to the goalie coach. Beyond that, why even bother to paint yourself into a corner by saying you won't play a goalie. Just don't play him and shut up about it. Finally, Fedotov had turned a corner in the games before this perma-benching, except for the last one. It's just a decision that has no merit.

To be fair, I don't think there's a team in the league where the goalie coach makes that decision. At the end of the day for every loss the head coach will have to answer for it, not the goalie coach.

Yeah, goalie coaches don't have that much pull. Example: Reese trying to keep a concussed Mason out and Berube ignoring him. And Berube isnt as bad as Tortorella.

Tippett was extended after the hot streak last year, and we know they see more there with Cates. Couple more weeks of hot play and they could do something really dumb
Tippett is 25, on his way to another 25+ goal season. Good thiing they extended him with the cap going up.

If Cates keeps playing like this, they'd better extend him, right now he's hands down their best center, and his line the only one playing like a top 6 group. There's nothing "fluky" about it, forget the goal streak, scoring is stochastic, since that line was put together they have a xGF close to 70%. If they continue to play that way all year "lock him up."

Is it good signing a player to an 8 year, $50m, contract that has to "have the right fit" to be successful?

Rushing to cater to 4th liners is what bad teams do

Do you watch the games?
The Cates line is clearly their best line by a wide margin the last month or so.
And they're not sheltered since Torts has confidence in Cates and Foerster on defense.

Cates and Brink have made the most progress of any Flyer players this season.
Cates is now an above average skater (Edge) from below average two seasons ago.
Brink is stronger, faster and more aggressive off the puck and more willing to go to dirty areas.

So I've seen a lot of people talk about Cutter and the organization - and all of these re-litigated arguments, totally fair and timely. Not complaining. Just giving my 2c.

I truly don't know what happened between the two but I can assure you players who play for the Flyers are not treated badly in Voorhees/Philadelphia.

The facilities are great, the amenities are great, and for 90% of this teams history, it's been a family environment (lol) and players historically have wanted to play here AND stay here. There's a significant amount of alumni still maintaining residency in the area That's pretty damn unique and from my understanding, not always the case for some teams.

Sure, we can talk about a string of idiot/out of touch head coaches (pretty much since Berube/Lavy), and I have been as critical and out on the team as anyone....we've seen some the TERRIBLE roster management, decisions, hires, and signings the last 10 years...but I want to make sure people realize that the Flyers go above and beyond off the ice for their players. I've been to a couple of the facilities around the league and I promise you FTC is better or on par with everything I've seen.

Danny may have misread the situation or lacked communication - but if you think the Flyers wouldn't have made it up to Cutter somehow, you are absolutely dead wrong.

This remains a place where players want to stay: Tippett, TK, Sanheim all resigned under the chaos/Torts. Hell Scott Laughton - one of the best people we've ever seen in a Flyers jersey - will do anything to stay here.

I'm still team tear it down, I'm still team fire Torts, I'm still team Danny is pretty mid so far...but I know a couple guys who played for the Flyers, and are still active in the NHL or in other leagues, and they have ONLY positive things to say about the organization. Players will always complain about role, coach...but you very rarely hear anything bad about how they were treated by the team/fans.

Just my 2c.

@VladDrag Am I the last one to find out just how much of Risto’s improvement in various catch-all metrics is Penalty Differential?! There’s some defensive improvement too, but it just went from horrendous to just fine. It’s mostly Penalties.
Meaning the Flyers take less penalties vs. draw them with Risto on the ice than was the case in the past? Maybe just moving his feet more rather than standing still bothering to figure out the right read at least gets him to average?

They were a players-friendly organization as long as Clarke could be reigned in and Snider was around. Now they're players-last. Look at the propaganda campaigns they run as revenge for every player that they drive away.

Early in the season he had phenomenal d-metrics, but it’s cooling off. He also has better (or did have - it may have gone down) tracking data from All Three Zones regarding controlled exists and entry defense.

That’s less of a sign that you have a good fourth line and more of a sign that you have a terrible top 9, or terrible coach.

There was a commercial on the other night for the flyers santa sacks. A guy gives a wrapped present to his girl and as she opens it, we get a pulp fiction briefcase-esque view of the back of the present, glowing gold in the woman’s beaming with surprise face. Only for the announcer(drawing a blank on his name) to call an enthusiastic goal by Seeler.
f***ing Seeler. They could have gone with Coots, TK, or even I don’t know their superstar in the making and common sense choice for the face of the franchise Michkov.
But no, they go with Seeler.
Is this a big deal? No not really.
Is this just another sign that the organization has its favored pet players. Yes.

Remove Hextall and Hakstok from this team and shitty coaching hires stay the same. Get rid of slew of players to placate AV just to finally pull the plug on his dumb ass and you are stuck with Tortorella, Lappy, Thompson. This team simply can't pull it's head out of it's ass and it all stems from the front office. We really need to clean the house, then fumigate and sage the place just for good measure.

Just curious why you guys laughed at my post, just curious if you have heard the players being treated differently @Curufinwe @Kelmitchell2

Genuinely asking, I’ve never been one to get in fights in my 15+ years here
My thoughts are exactly that of @Lord Defect on why I found it funny, Steve Mason, Eric lindros, etc, the only players they treat right are those that they think are "perfect flyers" like laughton, who will be the next Clarke once he finally dies off

Players are treated well all around the league, so it’s irrelevant.

The Flyers are a failure when it comes to putting together good hockey teams and hiring smart coaches.
