Actually, goal tending has the least impact on team culture.

The team knows when it's playing well, and if the goaltenders let them down, they still know they're on the right track, and it's easier to find one goaltender than change 18 players.

Flyers are 24th in xGF/60, 12th in xGA/60. So it's not the defense letting down the goaltenders.

11/25 Torts finally settled on 4 lines:
Last 14 games:
7th in xGF/60, 1st in xGA/60.
The PK was 32nd over that stretch in xGA/60, and the PP 32nd in xGF/60.
Flyers giving up the most goals b/c (GA- xGA)/60 for that stretch was +1.25.
So, the Flyers strongest suit isn't developing goalies?

Lycksell was recalled b/c 5 game road trip, can't just have him drive up from LHV if someone is dinged. Probably work him in for a few games.

Michkov had six days to rest, I expect to see a much better version.

So if Michkov is scratched tomorrow...you would be against that decision too?

Glad we agree!

"Play the young guys."
"The young guys suck."
What's wrong with this team, they can't rush players and make them instantly good.
I don't at all mind the Flyers playing Ersson, Kolosov, and (hopefully again) Fedorov through rough patches to see who emerge as high-quality NHL options. I approve of Briere not looking for a veteran backup, although it is difficult to prove that he is actively being patient and not just inert.

Ersson has to be hurt. A goalie rarely comes from the SHL, with the numbers that he posted there, to the NHL and bombs like he is this year. Even here in Philly his numbers have been better than they are now. JMO but Tortorella knows that SE is the best goalie that he has and is playing him when he shouldn’t be to save Torts’ ass. Going with Fedotov and Kolosov would be a disaster that would get Torts canned.

And yet Tortorella had to do just that this season while Ersson was on IR. How obstinate do you have to be as a coach to publicly refuse to play a third goaltender on the roster when the other two are bottoming out?

Probably Dillabaugh's call.

Fedotov was clearly "broken" to start the season, I'd expect he's getting a lot of work on technique and maybe some conditioning and flexibility training. Given what they owe him, and potential trade value, they'll give him every opportunity to succeed.

Actually, Ersson didn't have great numbers
20 years old, SHL 35g .895
21 years old, SHL 42g .911 PO 5g .949
22 years old, AHL 5g .893
23 years old, AHL 42g .900, NHL 12g .899
24 years old, NHL 51g .890

I’d like to see them give Fedotov another look with Ersson continuing to struggle.

Either he figures it out and we have a good goalie with size, or he continues to suck and we bottom out resulting in a higher pick. Win/win
Yap. They are in a place where their goaltending sucks to a degree where they will have to acquire one via trade or FA next summer or the being competive while rebuiling narrative can't be kept up. So finding out who has a future as a back up should be the plan for the rest of the season.

I know you keep saying this, but the elevated xGF stems from games between 11/25 and 12/10. Since 12/11 they are 28th in xGF/60…

Now they are 2nd in xGF/60 and 6th in xGF% during that same stretch.

Fedotov has been as good or better than both after his first few starts. He has the best Goals Saved Above Average of the 3. Sticking with Ersson is probably a bigger disaster at this point. He should be sent to the AHL to regain his fundamentals and confidence. He's the best of the 3 when he's "right."

Remarkable how the blame always goes elsewhere
