Deslauriers was signed in July, 2022.

Briere was the "special assistant" - I doubt he had any real input, CF probably saw him as a spy, looking over his shoulder and reporting to Comcast.

Did a search and found nothing connecting Briere and Deslauriers.

The first report of this was December 1st of 2022 from ASF on whatever that awful podcast with Therien is called. So that’s 4 months before Fletcher was even fired.

Here’s a post referencing it.

Fletcher would be President and Briere GM.
Hmm. That worked out well.

You really think Fletcher was happy to work with the guy Comcast had chosen to potentially replace him? I mean at that point Fletcher could see the handwriting on the wall and was just hanging around long enough to collect a few more pay checks (basically his retirement, those were nice pay checks).

Note that Fletcher and Camillo were both "Presidents." Briere was Camillo's protege.
Briere ended up the only one left standing.

Note, Fletcher hadn't worked until he was hired by the NJ Devils this August as a senior advisor.

All I ever get is that, if you're working in a sports league in a middle-management+ sort of position, then you're owned by somebody.

People just don't fall into roles out of the blue when it comes to anything on the spectrum of entertainment.

IIRC Briere at the town hall right before Fletcher was fired (yeah, we made that happen) went out of his way to talk about Deslauriers and how great he is.

Danny was always the top choice to replace Fletcher. Here is a tidbit for you, months before Chuck was fired Danny was telling people he hopes Chuck sticks around another year so he can learn more from him as he didn't believe he was ready to be the GM.

they got along very well with each other.

Hell he played him up just a couple month's ago in Michkov's first press conference and said he told Michkov that Deslauriers is going to be his best friend. Doesn't sound like a man who regrets that deal. He is a true believer that he is a "deterrent". I'm not even going to be surprised when they give him an extension.

I'm skeptical of Bader's model, seems very simplistic.

For example, Michkov isn't scoring at ES yet, and while he's going to be a great PP scorer, to be an elite player he'll need to score 50+ ES points with average defense. The model doesn't seem to even consider that.

I think he wants to move Hathaway up b/c Flyers don't go to the net and set screens for dirty goals.
Couts did so and that resulted in two PP goals.
But they rarely have a man in front of the net 5x5, which means lots of easy saves.

Hathaway has speed and size, concrete hands but he's not afraid to mix it up in front of the net.

The real problem is the forward group is undersized:

Couts, Foerster, Hathaway and Tippett are the only full sized forwards.
Foerster has potential in that role, but is inexperienced.
Tippett plays "small," relies on his speed and shot and doesn't use his body on a regular basis.
Couts has always been more of a finesse guy on offense.

Deslauriers has the size and grit for the role, but he's a liability in any other role, so if you dress him, it should primarily be for O-zone faceoffs where he goes to the net.

Gauither has the size for that role, but I think he'll end up similar to Tippett, a big shooting forward who doesn't spend a lot of time in the dirty areas. You only need one "Tippett."

Hathaway and Laughton above Farabee. Brink on the left side. Jesus. If York is hurt, please no EJ...play Andrae. Cant get rid of this coach fast enough.

And its time to send Jett down.

WTF are they doing?

Those lines scream that the HC’s job does not depend on winning games
Of course it doesn't. It's a rebuild.

The biggest problem is that Frost was the de facto 1C last season and started this season in the same role, and has come up short so far, though last game was a good sign he may be breaking out of his funk. Couts really isn't a top 6 center anymore but is in that role by default. And no good candidate for 3C.

Farabee has started slow, and that makes it hard to fit him in.
I like Couts - Michkov and Tippett - Frost as pairs, but with TK out, who to mix with whom?
