If anyone, assuming Murphy plays, probably Del Mastro. Now that the lineup is resembling more and more of the future, I'd really like to see them play well to make an impression on free agents this summer.Wonder who's Rinzel going to replace today. Based on performance the realistic one is KK but it would suck to not give him enough time to acclimate. Maybe Lev for a breather?
He won’t get to free agency quicker with them burning a year on his elc. Believe he has to of had 40 games played in the nhl.keeping lev on the roster isn't optimal. throw it in the pile of suboptimal roster decisions. it can be mitigated by recognizing that he's clearly among the hawks' six best defensemen and being happy that he's being rewarded, but it's still pretty hard to make a rational argument for letting him get to ufa a year earlier in exchange for 18 games at the end of a lottery season.

I don’t mind people not liking the burning of a year. But to me this is such a nothing burger. He’s played extremely well and deserves to stay in a lineup.Yeah I don't get why people keep making this point. Group 3 UFAs need 7 accrued NHL seasons (>=40 NHL games on active roster per year, not necessarily games played) or must be >=27 years old prior to June 30th in the year their contract expires. Lev won't be a Group 6 UFA.
Exactly. Burning an ELC year is really only consequential when you're a playoff team already up against the cap and you've got a: Teravainen, Shaw, Saad, etc...type who is being added to an already established roster and will need every bit of cap space you can get.I don’t mind people not liking the burning of a year. well then yeah it doesn't really matter whatsoever. He won’t get to free agency quicker with them burning a year on his elc. Believe he has to of had 40 games played in the nhl.
Can’t get a save right now. Especially tough when there’s a young team that’s bound to make mistakes.

Yeah, those guys have gotten hung out to dry way too many times this past losing stretch. Make the smart play and just get the puck out of the zone, then the second smart play and get it deep. That will greatly increase save percentage.Using SOG as a measuring stick is a bit misleading. Every Hawk colossal puck mismanagement seems to lead to prime scoring chances and there's a pretty big discrepancy.
For the same period in the article 5x5:
For the Hawks, high danger chances for = 61 and against = 84 or 42%
The percentage of conversions is 38% which amounts to a couple of goals.
Take care of the puck.
Tsk tsk. Didn’t learn their lesson the last time.
