You throw the question out of hand. What if the Hawks could pick, e.g., Schaefer and Hagens this year, and do something similar with next year's picks?
As was stated, the only team who might possibly fit as a trade partner for this trade is the Hawks.

Why bother debating something that's an impossibility?

JT Miller taking the tough 1C minutes being the leader of the team for 5 more seasons. I dont hate it. I have zero idea what it would cost and why he would waive to come to Chicago. It would take so much pressure off of Bedard. Might give a leg up on Boeser in the offseason too. (I dont know if we want either of these guys)

Teravainen-Miller-Boeser
Nazar-Bedard-Bertuzzi

To NYI- Moore/Toronto 1st and Kaiser/EDM
To Chicago-Miller
To Vancouver- Nelson

To Calgary- Toronto 1st
To Chicago- Miller
To Vancouver-Kadri and Murphy

Not even sure what kind of 3 teamer it would take. Doesnt seem like enough for Miller.

Those are f***ing brutal for Hawks

Only way you take Miller is if Jones goes other way

So, Richardson and Hawks demand kid play a 4th liners game and now are upset the kid is playing they demanded he play

Also, what the f*** is Reichel supposed to do playing 4th line C?

Put him at LW on a scoring line with talent so he can actually you know be aggressive offensively and attack

Reichel’s a bust. Good thing I’m not a scout because two years ago I thought he’d be a 60-70 point top six winger, but he’s been given every opportunity and done nothing with it. He’s been jerked around, but at some point it’s his own responsibility to step up.
He's still better than Maroon and Anderson. At least he can skate. He should have gotten a look with Bedard at some point on the wing. They should just trade him if they are going to continue to jerk him around and not play him.

Huh? They almost made a trade with CBJ last year with what he is talking about.

Lowkey Dach-Nazar-Teravainen is an absolute banger of a line.
That line is going to cook, it's the first correctly slotted and line with natural chemistry due to playstyles that we've iced in like 2 years.

Miller is a number 1 nhl center. He put up 103 points last year. What do you think hes going to cost?

Miller is 31, about to be 32. He is a number 1 centre in the league, right now, but he's on the low end of the league's top centres. Why would you want to give up anything for a guy in the downswing of his career?

Just throwing this out there, not to pick on Bedard. If one of the other tank teams would offer a package starting with their firsts this year and next for Bedard would you make the trade?
This is what he's talking about.

The Hawks almost traded Bedard to CBJ last year?

Why am I always the last to hear about these things?

Im not saying I would but its interesting. He would carry the load while the team improves. You would have a real center that can eventually work his way down the lineup as players come in. He also just had the best year of his career so I wouldnt say downswing yet. It be like Giroux in Ottawa at the end of his contract.

Miller
Bedard
Hagens/Misa

Friedman said the Hawks are interested in JT Miller? Wtf
I don’t think that’s what he said.

From the podcast transcript:

“I'll tell you one team, and I want to stress that I didn't really look at how it would all work. But just thinking about it off the top of my head, especially after what we saw in person this week, Kyle, would be Chicago.

Oh, I wondered if that's where you were going.

But you know what, if I'm Chicago and that JT. Miller thing is real, that's the guy I'm going after. And again, you've got to be willing to make a trade.

You know, Chicago doesn't have a lot at the NHL level, but...

They've got a lot of picks.

They got a lot of picks. They got a lot of prospects. And then Vancouver can decide, do they want that and then do some other things?

But if that's real, and I'm the Blackhawks, I am jumping all over that, all over that.”

Is that the issue, or are they saying EP is too soft? I couldn’t tell exactly what Friedman was alluding to in that whole segment.
Miller is know to be an intense fella. And EP is supposedly more tame/laid back. My guess it’s just oil and water. Both guys are paid well, wear letters and just don’t get along.

It’s hard to tell with all the “reporting”

Right, that’s what it seems like. I don’t know if it’s necessarily that JT can’t get along with teammates in general.

Friedman talks about the concern over losing his personality from the room if he’s traded. So seems like he’s seen as a good presence overall, just not good with EP.

Could be. He seems like a tone setter for a team. But those guys can have a shorter shelf life in a locker room. It’s an interesting dynamic.

True, but this hawks room could use a tone setter that is also legitimately talented. I wouldn’t give up anything crazy, but could understand if Davidson made a buy low move.

I agree. Just not sure why he would want to come here. He controls his future I believe movement wise. He’s a good friggin player but it’s a rough contract with the length

To me it's no a JT Miller... at this point. I get wanting to make a move and hey a Morgan Frost type trade I'd be all for now.

But the attitude concerns reminds of how Buffalo got Ryan O'Reilly at a time they were not ready to win. And it damaged things with his attitude.

I would be down for a Petterson trade... but if the Canucks are trading him & not Miller. You gotta see it as they will want NHL talent back. I don't see anyone worth it to them we would trade.

Very confused on your O’Reilly point. Can you explain a little more on how that relates to this situation?

A guy who is very hard on the team that sucked and pissed at teammates they didn't play hard and or be competitive... but on a team not anywhere close to good, it can just backfire and be a drain on the team.

O'Reilly was like that on the young Eichel Sabers. Then he was saying things like he lost the love to play the game. He was a bad presence for a team coming out of a tank. I think JT would be too.

I would much rather Bedard play with someone with a winning mindset even on a shit team vs a bunch of complacent losers.

Like…. ROR went on to win a Cup and Buffalo is still Buffalo.

I’m against the move because of his age and cost. If that weren’t an issue I’d absolutely want him playing with Bedard.
