I wouldn't call Reichel a bum but he's been given a long leash and has failed rather miserably. He needs to go back to RFD and work hard on his finish. Excited for Dach though.
Lost cause.

Soft players stay soft.

He doesn't have that dog in him, and he never will.

Which describes Strome as well .... who is 25 lbs heavier than Reichel.
Strome is infinitely more talented

His IQ and playmaking is among the best in the league

And he's a total rinkrat that's obsessed with the game

Reichel is mildly faster than most of the league, and that's about all he can do

I get why everyone is so turnt up right now, but Bedard, Nazar, Vlasic, Korch, Alan, TT, Bertuzzi, and Dach are the only players that matter at all. Vlasic Alan GREAT, Korch Nazar Bedard TT Bertuzzi have been varying degrees of good.

Calling Allan great is vastly overplaying what he's done

Scratching Reichel will certainly improve things. Lol. f*** these veterans and their never ending long leashes.
Compare the roster TT was a part of when he came up and the one Reichel plays on. Hockey is a team sport and the consensus on the hf board is Reichel should be shining up the bums he plays with at this stage of his career like Kane did with the lesser line mates he played with later in his career. That's not to say that Reichel is Kane or Bedard, because he obviously is a lower tier prospect. Perhaps when the Caps, Panthers or Canes pick him up for nothing we'll find out what he can do with more capable linemates.

The vets are being showcased. Whether there are any takers is another matter entirely. Tee hee hee.

can we talk about Foligno for a minute? While everyone is shitting on Reichel and rightfully so with his lack of development (playing more like Viktor Stalberg by the day) lets discuss Foligno falling off a damn cliff and why he should have never been made Captain. Other than occasional fights what does this guy actually contribute production wise? He seems like a great guy who never misses a photo op to have his kids on ice with him but when is he actually going to be held accountable to not doing much of anything?

Foligno is basically the same guy he's been the last few years now. Not really worth fussing over, IMO.

I'd rather he be the C so it's easier to hand off to Bedard after next season vs giving it to Seth Jones and then having to strip him of it. Bedard will be about 21 by then and going on year 4 so it shouldn't be too overwhelming to give him the C at that point.

Friedman said the Hawks are interested in JT Miller? Wtf

That can't be right. He turns 32 in March and has 5 more years under contract after this season. That would make literally no sense to sign him for his decline given the current state of the Hawks.

I go back and forth on if I'd want EP or not. He's young enough to still fit the timeline, a true C that we desperately need... but there is just so much smoke with that guy. I don't know. He's only made the playoffs twice in his career so I'm not going to get too hung up on the poor performance from last year. The only prior time he was in the playoffs he was 19 years old.

I think if KK and the Leafs pick were the main pieces used to get him I'd be for it. I wouldn't give up Lev or any of our first rounders, though. I'm not sure KK + a late first is going to be nearly enough, though, and I don't think there is a realistic third piece you can add that gets it done.

Reichel’s a bust. Good thing I’m not a scout because two years ago I thought he’d be a 60-70 point top six winger, but he’s been given every opportunity and done nothing with it. He’s been jerked around, but at some point it’s his own responsibility to step up.

Strome got off to an unsustainably hot start. He'll probably end up around 65 points again, maybe low 70s for a career year offensively because of the hot start.

All while still being awful on defense, painfully slow, and charmin soft. I wouldn't take him back for free.

I didn't realize Tyler Myers was a top pairing guy for Vancouver and his partner seems like it's been a revolving door.

Jeez... maybe you can sell them as KK being a big piece in a trade for EP if that's the case. Hell, give them EDM or Kaiser too while you're at it.

Edit I’m an idiot, was looking at depth chart currently and had no idea Hughes was injured and spaced on him and Hronek who is also injured.

JT Miller taking the tough 1C minutes being the leader of the team for 5 more seasons. I dont hate it. I have zero idea what it would cost and why he would waive to come to Chicago. It would take so much pressure off of Bedard. Might give a leg up on Boeser in the offseason too. (I dont know if we want either of these guys)

Teravainen-Miller-Boeser
Nazar-Bedard-Bertuzzi

To NYI- Moore/Toronto 1st and Kaiser/EDM
To Chicago-Miller
To Vancouver- Nelson

To Calgary- Toronto 1st
To Chicago- Miller
To Vancouver-Kadri and Murphy

Not even sure what kind of 3 teamer it would take. Doesnt seem like enough for Miller.

Just throwing this out there, not to pick on Bedard. If one of the other tank teams would offer a package starting with their firsts this year and next for Bedard would you make the trade?

Agree 100% with what you're saying here. I would also add that while currently being a great player - VAN would be trading Miller for reasons other than his on-ice performance. AKA - potentially not the kind of guy that I would want in a rebuilding environment around a bunch of young guys. (I say potentially because maybe JTM isn't willing to put up with EP40 sleepwalking through games - and maybe that's the kind of guy you want if you have enough other leadership on the team. I just don't think that the Hawks have enough of established leadership to take that risk).

I feel like Vancouver needs a 2C coming back to them in any EP trade.

But from the Hawks POV, I think it’s too risky given his contract and inconsistencies

KK, Murphy, and Donato for EP. Gives them a piece to build a future blue line with and two pieces to stay in the playoff hunt this year. Retain 50% on both Murphy and Donato and spares them some cap space for another move.

I don't think this would actually be enough, but in theory it would hit their needs both long and short term.
