You would add $2 mil AND 2 more years to the cap on a hunch that he can regain the one thing he had that was good. Buffoonery.
Oh no, not 2mil $$. I mean, we are wasting 9.5mil right now on someone who does not much of anything. It's been 12 games and playoffs of EP not being great, this will probably look pretty foolish in a couple of years. Lots of players have had 1 or 2 rough years in their careers, ill take the gamble if it means getting rid of Jones.

So you have nothing but "it seems like a good idea" and "I don't like Seth Jones". Fantastic GM'ing here.

I would like to see Slaggert get some NHL time.

Mikheyev and Anderson are doing whole lot of nothing out there. Give the kids some ice.

Count me in the camp that wants Seth Jones traded. What an infuriating player.

His NTC makes trades impossible, but I think there is one place that could both use him and be intriguing enough for Jones to waive, and that's Florida.

They're thin on defense with only 1 legit pair, and Ekblad is coming up on an extension in the off-season. Seth could go play in a nice state, on the defending champs.

They're also allocating 15 mil for goalies which is too much, and have Driedger as a plan B.

Do you think a Jones for Knight + Luostarinen + 2m more salary be something realistic?

Knight I would argue would fill a big need for us, Luostarinen could be a very nice third wheel option down the line to any pair.

Most ideal would be Knight + Lundell of course, but I doubt Florida would ever do something like that for a Jones caliber player+ contract.

Bob would be coming back. One more year after this. They will transition from Bob to Knight. They are giving some big contracts out to their forwards and need to cut money elsewhere.

It makes sense if they plan on walking from Ekblad and we would be willing to retain like two million since that’s what Ekblad makes now. 7.5 per. This is coming from someone who likes Jones.

This summer its time to get a big fish. Marner or Rantanen. Overpay if you need to. Worry about the cap if we need to down the road. Also another grade A. Brock Nelson or Brock Boeser. You need to flip the losing quickly after we get 1 more high pick.

Bertuzzi-Bedard-Marner
Tuevo-Nelson-Nazar
Reichel-Dickinson-Foligno
Mikheyev-Smith-Anderson
Slaggert

Frondell Misa Hagens Martone hopefully in the mix
Maybe we keep our powder dry for a big splash one more offseason.

McDavid!

If McD leaves Edmonton, it'll be to go somewhere where he has a better chance of winning cups than he has in Edmonton. Comparing his timing on going UFA to the Hawks rebuilding arc, it would still be very difficult to convince him the Hawks are his best option.

A few excerpts from an excellent article:

Wyatt Kaiser

The Blackhawks have an even goal differential with Kaiser on the ice, but look closer and Kaiser has essentially played opponents to a standstill at five-on-five. Attempts are even at 215-215, high-danger chances are nearly even at 38-37 against and goals are even at 5-5. The Blackhawks will take that from a 22-year-old in his first full NHL season.

Isaak Phillips

The Blackhawks have a zero goal differential in five-on-five with Phillips on the ice. The Blackhawks have scored two goals and allowed two goals. That may not seem like a huge stat, but it’s significant for Phillips. He was constantly on the ice for goals against last season. The Blackhawks were outscored 37-11 with him out there in 33 games. If he can be consistent, he has a chance to be a depth defenseman for the Blackhawks in the future.

Alex Vlasic

Vlasic is responsible for 12.33 defensive zone exits per 60 minutes, according to Corey Sznajder’s tracking data. The only player with a higher rate so far this season is Quinn Hughes. That’s pretty good company. It’s another sign of Vlasic’s continued development. As much as his bread and butter will continue to be his defense, he’s shown he can do more with the puck on his stick, whether that’s coming out of the defensive zone or creating in the offensive zone.

Connor Bedard

Bedard is second to only Toronto’s Auston Matthews with 41 individual scoring chances at five-on-five this season. He isn’t scoring, but it’s not for lack of trying. He shot nearly 20 percent in his last year in the WHL and 10 percent in his first year in the NHL. He’s at just 6 percent so far this season. The goals will come.

Each player gets a stat that Powers/Laz focus on. These are some of the ones for the kids. Didn't post Allan's or Reichel's, but only because those stats are easily seen through watching the games (if you can watch): Allan's is playing 12 out of 14 games, Reichel's is his improved TOI.

Agreed. Excellent article. And there's this on Soderblom:

Arvid Söderblom

Söderblom has a goals saved above expected rate per 60 minutes of 1.158, according to MoneyPuck.com. That’s good for third in the league.

how mikheyev continues to pull on an NHL jersey is absolutely shocking... he is useless really and yes he is holding minutes from a youngster.

Begging Kyle to call up Frank

This roster is putrid
at this point he should. in addition Bedard needs some stability at his flanks..
