2024-25 Rockford Icehogs season

The Hogs currently have 12 NHL contracted forwards, 5 defencemen and 1 goalie…ALL OF THEM SHOULD DRESS!

Mayhew is a former AHL MVP there to give Nazar another guy to play with. Having veteran players around helps the main prospects on and off the ice.

Ludwinski is struggling. Can take a game to re-focus himself. He’ll be back in next game I bet. Being in and out of the lineup is a normal thing that players need to deal with as they progress.

Luypen is a 7th rounder on the last year of ELC. No future with Hawks. Think he’s going to Indy to get some playing time.
 
What good is it to have Guttman taking draws for their power play with Nazar on the wing? Isn't the goal to have Nazar be a center?

...then the halfish backcheck to allow a shorty.
 
Tough game for Commesso, he's been outplayed by Cossa. Tough game for Ethan Del Mastro as well. Tons of turnovers and a bad penalty.

Slaggert, Dach, Nazar, Levshunov, Savoie having great days.
 
Lev should have done more than be a screen on the first short handed goal against. Try to poke check, try to hit, block the shot--choose one!
 
Hogs lose 5-2. 0-4 on the PP. Honestly Levshunov looked like the better QB as well, on the second unit.

Had their chances but didn't bury them in the first and then the loose play started in the second and carried into the third.

This team is atrocious defensively and I mean ATROCIUS. I get they are young but yowzers.

Still goalies have to bail out defensive cpver mistakes...ROCKFORDhas NOT got good goaltending g this season so far
.Commesso ooks like a bust ..

Rockford outshoits Grand Rapids 39 -21 ..only gives up 21 shots and 5 GA...not exactly getting Corey Crawford high save %s..

Also ...failure to convert offebsive chances. NAZAR 6 SHOTS ON GOAL and NAZAR NADA..

They cleary have Blackhawks disease..can't beat opps goalies much even at AHL level except for AA of course.
But 2 goals by a team does not win many games..5 against pretty well guarantees a loss.
Still...goaltending is 70% of winning ..

So far Rockford goaliesxhave not been storing enough pucks.

Saying a 22 year old goalie is a bust 5 games into a season is probably the dumbest thing I have read on here. Quantity of shots means nothing. Quality of shots is everything. I am seeing way too many breakaways, 2 on 0s, guys behind the defense.....it's a young d core and they will get better but it's a breakdown on many fronts. Pure fact is no goalie on the planet is saving some of these chances.

He definitely got outplayed by Cossa today but calling him a bust is dumb.
 
The most concerning thing about Commesso is that he wears gloves inside his gloves. That's psycho behaviour.
