I feel like Ludwinski has a high floor but a low ceiling . If I were betting I'd say a 4th liner (with speed and tenacity )almost certain but nothing more .Nice by Savoie.....Is Ludwinski quietly getting better?
High floor in what sense? Being a guy that'll play pro hockey? I think he's far from a lock to make the NHL in any capacity and could easily be a guy with a token number (like sub-50) NHL games played when he retires. He's fast and plays hard but far from a lock to be a matchup or penalty killing type grinder. Advance a few years and you might be looking at Cole Guttman.I feel like Ludwinski has a high floor but a low ceiling . Missed about 8 weeks or so.What about Hayes? Anyone with any idea what's going on with him?
I think he's been a bit unlucky. He has 64 SOG and only 2 goals on the season. That's a shooting % of 3.125 %. Obviously Junior goals aren't Pro Hockey goals but he had 78 goals in 121 games in the OHL in 2022-23 and 2023-24 combined, I don't think he has a bad or muffin shot (even if he is a guy that definitely shoots first, asks questions later which isn't necessarily a bad thing). What about Hayes? No I think he has an inner strength to be a very good penalty killer / energy guy . Guttman has some nice hands but is a touch small.High floor in what sense? Being a guy that'll play pro hockey? Do you think a half year-year more in the AHL is required?Korchinski has been really good in almost all my viewings of him this year. All this talk of guys like Kaiser and EDM making him expendable is asinine to me. This was always going to be the plan this year, to have him in the AHL basically the entire year and playing as a true number 1 Dman in all situations. That is what he has done, and done it well as far as I am concerned. He has shown a lot more jam to his game this year as well, and I really don't think his physicality is going to be an issue going forward, especially as he continues to fill out. I mean, sure, if someone wants to trade a young stud forward for him, then I would consider it. But I don't buy the Hawks even considering moving him short of that.
I'm fuzzy on specifics but as I recall, anyone who plays an NHL game in a given season has to be on the AHL roster at the trade deadline to be eligible for the AHL playoffs. So it's probably not possible for the NCAA guys who will be looking to sign and get some NHL games in.Any idea how it works on the Hogs adding players ending the season into the playoff run? Like if Rinzel, Moore, and Greene end the season with the Hawks, could they join the Hogs for the playoffs? Then there's guys like Lardis, Misiak, and Spellacy who might be eligible.
It might be interesting what the lineup looks like with Dach, Del Mastro, and Levshuov able to go back down and also loading from the prospects.
I think it depends. I would like to see him get another taste of the NHL at the end of the year, get a good summer of training in, and then see how things play out in training camp. I hope they bring in no more than one veteran D man (outside of Murphy and Vlasic) and just let the kids fight it out for those other 4 spots.Do you think a half year-year more in the AHL is required?
I am glad to hear that. He had a weird development path with last year and glad to se ehe has learned from that and maybe slowed the game down a bit as he has matured. Would be nice to have him as our 2nd PP specialist.Rockford has had a few guys that have really progressed this season. Savoie has really stood out to me with his speed and physicality. Korchinski has been really good and improving. His skating is excellent and has played very well.
