2024-25 PWHL Thread

Curl as Minnesota's fourth protected player is... a choice.
indeed it is, but what's your complaint? The Frosties' back-to-back championships present strong evidence that the organization has a handle on what it takes to build & sustain a successful roster. If/when they fall from their lofty perch, then we can criticize their decisionmaking skills.

That's a fair take for sure, But there's definitely a healthy percentage of the Frost's own fanbase that loathes Curl for her professed views that are, shall we say, somewhat out of step with the rest of the league? While I've no doubt there are other players who feel as she does, they at least had the sense to keep it to themselves. I really don't think a more progressive market like Seattle or Vancouver was going to risk alienating their fanbase right off the bat by taking a player like that. I could be wrong, obviously.

She's already been suspended a couple of times for dangerous play.

And the Frost have already lost arguably (depending on what you think of Stecklein) their two best defenders. Thompson was probably always leaving, but Jaques is a huge hole to fill. Why wouldn't you protect another defender?

Thank you for coming to my TED talk. ;)

Maybe Curl's attitudes are thought of by team/league heirarchy as simply the other side of the "inclusivity" coin. Or Coyne, in the case of Minnesota.
