I'm starting to pay more attention to the PWHL because it's showing me what true hockey fans are and what they should be. I find when they pay more money it's not as fun. The NHL has gotten a lot more corporate.
Don't mistake The P' as a completely noble hockey organization. It's still all about The Almighty USD/CAD.

End of one period @ Laval, OTT up 1-0. Tereza Vanišová tipped in a good shot from the point by Jincy Roese about halfway through the first 20 mins. Charge displaying far more offensive pressure than Victoire so far, and they kept up their energy on an ultimately fruitless PP in the closing minutes of the 1st. Montreal will have most of a one-skater advantage when Period 2 begins.

End Of 2 periods, Charge 1 - Viccies 3. The Victoire had an early 2nd period partial power play that was interrupted by ice repair around one of the Charge goalposts (same problem with the opposite pipe later on), but they still got several good offensive chances. Not long after, Marie-Philip Poulin tied the game at 1-1 on a beautiful one-motion pass & shot ripper past OTT rookie netminder Gwyneth Philips. MTL kept up the pace & Jennifer Gardiner gave her team its first lead. Then a subsequent woman advantage for the home team ended with Poulin's 2nd goal of the night, and Philips was replaced by Emerance Maschmeyer in the Charge net. Montreal returned to the PP not long after the goalie swap, but Masch & her teammates killed it off to slow down their opponents (briefly). The Charge managed to keep their opponents mostly away from the net the rest of the period, but they'll need a brand new plan for Period 3.

Final Score = OTT 1 - MTL 4. The Charge managed to claw back a lot of their early-game offensive advantages in the final period, but the Victoire didn't back down & countered well against renewed pressure. The Charge pulled Maschmeyer with just under 4 minutes left, and Victoire captain M-P Poulin finished her hat trick with an ENG to erase any Ottawa thoughts of a comeback. Montreal reclaims 1st place from Minnesota with a 3-point victory.

End of 20 minutes in Laval, tied 1-1. Sceptre forward Jesse Compher with the extra-strength tally for the visitors to start the scoring. Mariah Koepple got that one back late in the period for the Victoire.

SOGs = TOR 15 - MTL 11. Lots of offense, both goalies busy.
