This will be interesting. I didn’t know what to think of Brian Burke…

I reckon his participation in spinning up the League was noble, with at least pinches of fulfilling a personal favor & burning his free time until a better opportunity came along.

Final Score = Frost 5 - Fleet 2. Former MIN center Susanna Tapani got BOS back within one early in the 3rd, but Katie Knoll quickly used her first P'goal to stretch the lead again. KCS later extended the home team's margin, and that held to the end.

End of two periods @ TD Place, still 2-0 in NY's favor. Charge played with more intelligence & physicality that period, but still not enough to crack the Siren team D.

Final Score = Sirens 3 - Charge 0. Jessie Eldridge scored NY's 3rd goal, an extra strength tally in the closing period while OTT was killing a 5-minute major penalty with a 2 min. minor mixed in (both indisputable basic boarding calls). Those distractions - and the Sirens' play - hurt their chances of catching up. Ottawa switched to 6 skaters with almost 4 minutes left, and improved their scoring chances after a minor tripping penalty on NY with a bit over 2 minutes left, but they couldn't solve New York's G Kayle Osborne who earned the shutout with 31 stops & no misses.

More cramming material for tonight's game ... TORONTO AT MINNESOTA JAN. 28 PRE-GAME PRIMER

End of the first 20 minutes, tied 1-1. 2 PP tallies, Minnesota's by Michela Cava, Toronto's by Sarah Nurse.

End of 40, Frost lead 2-1. Claire Thompson adds the 3rd extra woman goal of the game. The teams are trading penalties & SOGs pretty evenly. Blocked Shots stat leaning well toward MIN, but both teams had fewer challenged shots in Period 2.

End of regulation in St. Paul, with a 3-3 tie stretching the game to a 3-on-3 OT session.

Lots happened since my 2nd period report. TOR forward Jesse Compher tied the game 2-2 early in the 3rd ... yes, on a power play. Claire Thompson topped off an end-to-end rush to earn the first even strength goal on the scoresheet (her second tally of the game) to regain the Frost lead about halfway through Period 3. A Minny minor penalty not long after led to a fifth PP goal, that one by Renata Fast to give the Sceptres their 3rd comeback & forcing extra play.

ETA: A noteworthy end to the third period, as TOR's Renata Fast (true to her name) outraced MIN's speedster Kendall Coyne to the puck on one last Frost scoring chance.
