Hopefully DC makes the moves in the offseason to get a team soon once they are ready to expand.

The PWHL Draft is coming and with the official draft declaration list out, we now know all eligible players. With the PWHL's list created, here's a look at The Hockey News' final 2024 PWHL Draft rankings.

From NCAA stars to European national team members, the 2024 PWHL Draft class has its stars. Sarah FIllier again remains atop our rankings, although she's not the consensus number one pick. The gap between the top several players in this draft is small and selections are going to come down to preference and positional needs more than perceived gaps in talent. Here's a look at The Hockey News' final 2024 PWHL Draft Rankings ahead of the June 10 Draft. ...

Biggest issue should be addressing New York and where to plug them in. Bridgeport is out of the question as nobody came to any of those games, especially the locals, yet the practice facilities were nearby. Elmont suffered from having awful dates due to juggling event priorities, and while Newark is the best choice, it also is admitting defeat as it's yet another "New York" team that's playing in New Jersey.

In every option, location hampers potential fans from visiting. The dream solution would be a mid sized arena in Manhattan but that will never happen in a million years. Every arena in NYC proper is either a massive, ungodly venue far above what we need (MSG, Barclays, UBS), or a 2K seat dump that hasn't seen a major renovation in decades (most of the college gyms, Aviator Rink), and it's the funniest thing since you'd assume a city like New York would try to meet somewhere in the middle.

There are already conceptual plans for that, so it's just a matter of time (less than a million years) to start the site clearing ...

The leaders of the PWHL drive a hard bargain in these early days. Hopefully it gets profitable quick and the players can start really living their “dream” with the PWHL in progress.

So I guess this fits within the context of the average salary-based cap as an "incentive compensation ". :sarcasm: ...
The PWHL honeymoon period has officially ended, and the true meaning of "what's ours is ours" is being revealed. That July 31, 2031 CBA expiration date is looking a LOT further away.

Another set of 2024 PWHL Draft prognosications, this time from NYT/The Athletic ...
PWHL draft ranking 2024: Sarah Fillier, Claire Thompson and Amanda Kessel highlight the list

Hailey Salvian and Scott Wheeler
Jun 4, 2024

The 2024 PWHL Draft is less than one week away.

On Monday, June 10 — in St. Paul, Minn. — 42 of the best players will be selected across seven rounds. In all, 167 players from across the NCAA, SDHL, USports, the German women’s league, Russia and more have declared for the draft.

Back in April, The Athletic ranked the top 30 players who could be drafted out of the NCAA. Now it’s time to look at the entire player pool with a top 50 ranking made up of 27 forwards (16 centers, 6 left wings, 5 right wings), 19 defenders (11 lefties, 8 righties) and four goalies. ...

The Athletic canvassed several coaches, general managers and agents from the PWHL and the NCAA when compiling this list, but the evaluations and rankings are strictly our own. Of course, on draft day some decisions will come down to a GM’s preferences or team need, especially as we get into the later rounds. But this is a prospect ranking, not a mock draft. That will come soon. ...
