Cal Ritchie powerplay assist. Oshawa going to OT against Barrie

They won 7-6 in OT. They have a 3-0 lead in the series.

Concerning for me is Ritchie's statline:

17 goals scored in this series and Ritchie has all of 2 points.

The just about 3-year younger draft-eligible forward Owen Griffin has 13-10-23 in these playoffs (4 in the series) and he's basically been viewed as a 5th-7th rounder for this summer all season long.

London sweeps and goes off to OHL finals

Jesse Nurmi scored

Up to 7 points in 12 games. It's ok, although I've seen them all and two of the assists were, well, generous gimmes by the statkeepers.

Still, we're talking about a 20-year old import player on the most powerful junior team on the continent and his regular season consisted of 9-22-31 in 58 games.

That's essentially a strong statement that you're not an NHL topic.

About time!

Up until this game, he only had 2 points on the 17(!) goals they had scored in the first three games.
I have only been score board watching this round but from reports he’s doing all the little things to help the team win. Personally, I would like to see a former 1st round draft pick who’s 20 years old dominate more points wise but he’s certainly not struggling.

I think we’re gonna need patience with him and don’t let the fact that he played a few games in the NHL last year set expectations too high for him.

I’m hoping the new GM gets a new coach for Bridgeport and is a guy who can develop our prospects better. Then maybe he can start in the AHL next year.

IMO, Ritchie has done everything he can at juniors. His test is going to be at training camp and how he transitions to the pro level.

I think him dominating juniors - which he has tho season - proves nothing more

He'll be playing pro one way or another next season.

Not sure he's done everything he can at the junior level.

I suppose 80 points in 50 games (30 in 21 PO games) followed by 70 in 47 games (20 in 16 PO games) can be understood as "dominating". We've all certainly seen more dominant performances and the very quiet WJC was less than impressive.

My eye test having watched a number of the games since we acquired him doesn't have me bringing his name and the word dominating into the same sentence. He's kind of subtle. He has several teammates who pop out a lot more and what hasn't been impressive IMHO is seeing him get pinned up on the boards as easily as he can be.

I'm finding it hard to project if those very quick passes of his will be something that makes him special when playing with (skilled) pros. His skating is not something that will be a strength at the next level, so I'm hoping it's that puck-moving propensity that'll separate him a bit.

I know I've mentioned Dylan Strome recently when seeking a comparable for Misa but that could be a fairly good comparable for Ritchie too.

Which we be fantastic!

It sounds a lot like Ryan Strome rather than Dylan.

I guess my point is that we need to see what he does at Bridgeport next season. Hopefully, he can develop and transition. I would be happy if he could become a legit 3c and replace JGP in a season.

He is also an asset too that could be used to upgrade the roster.

I think at the end of the day, he’s gonna be a good 2nd line all around center for the Isles. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but I think he’ll be an NHL’er for quite a while.
