2024-25 Prospect Thread

Is Cal Ritchie the best prospect we’ve acquired this century?

I can’t think of a time we acquired a prospect of this level.

Not that he’s top five in the league but even when we were sellers it was mostly for picks.

The answer might be Kenny Jonsson
If we’re not counting trading for a draft pick when on the clock(Barzal) then I think Ritchie is the best prospect we’ve acquired in the last 25 years.

I checked Kenny too and he was actually already in the nhl. Maybe Berard was the better idea.

I just recall Milbury having Redden doing push ups on the ice at training camp or prospect camp. Yes, he deemed him soft. I also liked Mcabe and he soured with Milbury as well. Ahh... those late 1990's- early 2000 Isles teams. I think that lead to my hair prematurely turning gray.

Milbury sldeemed redden to soft and wanted the flashy Woonsocket rocket who was demanding out of Ottawa

It's been too long and I don't remember the details, but there was a preseason game where Redden got bullied and didn't respond. Milbury was probably apoplectic and ultimately traded him. There's no proof, but I always attributed that trade primarily to the preseason incident.

Posted by Oshawa after last nights game

Probably the reason Ritchie has improved as a prospect since he was drafted, and encouraging that he'll hopefully continue to improve. I've said it before, it might just be the #21, but I get Brent Sutter vibes from him (probably not quite the Sutter mean streak though).

I’d sign up for that all day! That’s an upper echelon #2 center that can fill in on the top line as a #1 if needed.

Oshawa game 6

2-0 Oshawa leading at the end of the first

Ritchie with another assist. If Oshawa wins they win the series and would have won 4 straight after going down 2-0.

Seems to be pacing at a point per game, hope he turns it up a little.

Love the experience for him though.
He’s 3rd in the team in points. I do wish he was scoring more and racking up points but he is producing and he’s playing key defensive assignments and also winning faceoffs.

Again, you’d certainly love to see more points but he’s not struggling by any stretch.

Agreed. Feels like Barlow and Griffin are running the show but it’s ok. Kids producing and they’re winning
