Quinn Finley and Wisconsin vs. Danny Nelson and Notre Dame last night

Finley: 3 assists
Nelson: 1 goal and 2 assists

1 of Finley’s assist also set up Isles prospect Zach Schulz for a goal

This is bringing back the good old days of watching Dufour lighting it up on his Memorial Cup winning run.

Hoping for a way better outcome with these prospects.

Difference is they are not over agers
You’re not wrong but that’s like saying your hot girlfriend wasn’t a supermodel.

He was that guy just a few years ago.

Cam Berg 2 goals for North Dakota
Danny Nelson goal for Notre Dame
Jesse Pulkkinen assist for JYP
Xavier Veilleux assist for Muskegon
Polarizing prospect Ryabkin is on Muskegon with Veilleux. He came over recently. Was talked about as a top5 pick in this draft. Now scouts are all over with him. Similar to Raty and Lambert. I think he’s slightly better. If isles are keeping an eye on Veilleux they surely will get a look at Ryabkin.

Yup. I bought him up in the draft thread because of the possibility of using a late first (Nelson trade for example) on him since he was falling

Very likely our guys are watching him. Muskegon has a couple of talented players this year

I haven’t gotten to really watch film on him yet but his scouting reports are interesting. Could use big skilled centers

Are you inferring that Dufour's very successful MC season took place at the end of a long QMJHL career (which would be fine as it did) or that Dufour was drafted as an overager (which would be incorrect as he was drafted in his first year of eligibility)?

Interestingly, the Islanders currently only have 14 properties that are listed as unsigned.

That list includes Iskhakov (KHL), Gill (signed to an AHL-only contract), and Aleksi Malinen, a strong-skating defenseman who quit ice hockey after last season (where have we heard that before?).

I'm not sure about all the new NCAA rules, but Berg is the "senior" prospect on the list as he's in his 4th year of eligibility. Up until the pandemic, that would have meant that he'd have to be signed by August 15th. I don't see any reason he can't add on another year of college hockey.

Of the remaining players, Gidlöf, Gamzin, and Good Bogg (basically a non-prospect - currently doing a whole lot of nothing in Sweden's 3rd league) are in Europe and do not yet need to be signed, Veilleux is in the USHL and first headed to college, and the rest are all playing college hockey (Nelson, Finley, Eiserman, Bednarik, and Schulz).

It's very possible that any number of these players could already be signed this summer but it's looking like the team doesn't yet have to make a decision on, well, any of them.

I feel very confident we're going to have Nelson-Bednarik as our 2-3 punch down the middle 4 years from now for a good amount of time. Both are really good defensive centers. I'm excited.

From my understanding, these two have limited offensive ceilings (development is implicit).
I would say go back to when Lee and Brock were drafted and in our system. They weren't considered to be scorers either. Although both are not considered stars, I would say over the length of their careers here, they did pretty well overall. Obviously, they have slipped as they got older.

I just think Nelson (Danny) has a good chance of being that solid 2C for us. Bednarik, here good things but him, I haven't really followed as much.

I’m no prospect guru, but Brock had a higher offensive ceiling, from what I recall. Does Danny have his core combination of mobility, stickhandling, and shot?

Regardless, my realistic hope is that between both of them we have a high-end 3C.

Nelson (Danny) has better mobility and sticklandling. You saw it during the tourney. He had good hands and wrist shoot (not as good as Brock). I know it sounds funny, but I see him almost as a Brock clone (no pun intend). I'm high on him as a 2C in the future. Of all the centers (Gill, and Bednarik and him) he clearly has the most upside. I'm really excited about him.

Strangely enough maybe more than Eiserman. And the reason I say that. I truly see Eiserman as a hit or miss, don't see an in between with him. He's going to be an all-star or another Wally and/or Bellows

I’ll take your word on Danny. Prime Brock had a savvy set of hands and was quietly fast. So that’s high praise for Danny.

My hope for Eiserman is that he rounds out his offensive arsenal; notably his skating. He’s going to have less space and time to unleash that shot. If he can gain that extra step or two, he’ll put himself in a better position to be a multi-dimensional goalscorer.
