Gamzin 45/46 saves for CSKA in a 2-1 win

And just for fun, Iskhakov scored the winner in the penalty shootout
I've had a feeling for a while that Gamzin is one of our top prospects (and kept voting for him in the poll) and will turn out to be a good one.

This is based on nothing but my gut, so it could be legit or it could be too much Frank's Red Hot Sauce.

It would be nice if NYI drafted prospects who actually want to go pro?

First Ryan Pilon and now Malinen? Maybe it's more common than we think, but this organization loves going off the board at the end of the drafts when they could actually find some diamonds in the rough if they went with consensus picks.
Not the same situation but I’m still mad about Bode Wilde. Had monster year in Saginaw and then basically got punished by Lou because he didn’t want to get vaccinated and his development and career just wasn’t the same. Maybe he never makes it but he never really had the support.

Bode would have made it (me thinks) if he as really good enough. I don't think being vaccinated or not had anything to do with his fate.

Good players made the big leagues regardless of their "warts", aka Tony D is a great example.

Re off ice decisions there was more smoke than just that. And on ice, it was worse.

Quinn Finley really having an excellent Sophomore season with 19 goals and 35 points for North Dakota, both lead the team. He’s tied for 5th in the nation for points and tied for 4th in the nation for goals.

Good Bogg may join that list.

Since you mention him, he's playing in the second league over here in Germany this season. In fact, he had the right to get a German player pass because he had German grandparents. This is of value because each team can only have 6 non-German players in the line-up. But he counts as a German.

In any case, I can't lie - he has not been impressive. He looks big out there and can shoot and makes the nice pass here and there but he has become incredibly immobile. Players are often skating by him. He's slow in transition and his steps look real heavy.

Also, as big as he is in comparison to most here, he doesn't necessarily play particularly physical. I've seen too many goals against where he could easily have manhandled the eventual goalscorer near the goalmouth but didn't and that guy scored.

The average German fan would have to wonder what it was that got him drafted. He makes that lethargic an impression.

This is not to say he wasn't an entirely different player back when he was 16-20.

Funny thing about both Wilde and Raty is that both went from 1st rounders (Bode was like ~#15 in the mocks) to falling to us in the 2nd round.

I liked Bode Wilde a lot as a prospect. I remember watching the U18’s pre draft, and though he didn’t score any goals, he seemed really calm and cool in his own zone, and made excellent break out passes.

I was on cloud 9 when we got him in the 2nd round. I was even hoping we would get him with our 2nd first round pick. Never dreamed we would get Wahlstrom & Dobson, and then Wilde in the 2nd round. I thought that was an incredible, franchise changing draft. Boy was I wrong. Wilde had the talent, just didn’t have the drive and determination to cultivate that talent. Him and Wahlstrom turned out to be big disappointments.

Basically every hockey outlet out there gave the NYI raving reviews for their 2018 draft.

All thought Dobson and Wahlstrom were as a good of picks as any at that juncture.

All thought that Iskhakov and Wilde were very astute 2nd rounders.

All thought that Skarek was one of the top two Czech goalies (Dostal being the other) and were impressed with his work in Finland.

All thought Jenkins, Pivonka, and Krygier were fine late rounders, each with pedigree.

Amazing that only one has broken through and he's now one of our biggest whipping boys.
