Something about him and his style makes me think he's not someone worth investing a contract in.
Interesting take Chapin, I’d like to hear more. With our prospect pool I just figured he’d be worth keeping around since he does have some goal scoring. But older prospect so I don’t think it would be a big loss for us either way

Jesse Nurmi also had 2 goals for London on Sunday

How good is Quinn Finley 24 GP, 18 goals, 15 asst. 33 points - 2nd in overall scoring? Doing this as a sophomore
is he the real deal?

He's the real deal.

The skills he has are translatable.

Skating, puckhandling, shot (definitely the shot), and hockey IQ are on track pro level, likely NHL level.

The big question will be his build moving forward. Will he be/get strong enough. The pro game is a different beast physically.

Goalie Marcus Gidlof gets some praise here

He's in a bit of an SHL back-up mode right now.

He started out his SHL play with a 3-0 record, but has landed on earth again, going 2-3 in partial duty since. His 2.07 GAA and .917 SV% are admirable for a goalie his age.

This said, he's not playing enough for a player his age. It's promising that they go with him in a pinch, but the SHL bench is no-where for an 18-year-old goalie to be.

His last game played whatsoever was the bronze medal game at the WJC.

What's interesting about him is that before and since the draft, he's been smaller or slighter than most of his competition. Now that he's caught up, his production has exploded.

One thing is clear is that he could probably play anywhere on the PP excluding the net front, and be dangerous. If you have multiple players like that, the range of motion & looks possible on a PP really increase. That NYI don't have those types of players now is a big problem with the PP.

So, you're already thinking about Finely and Eisermann being on a PP unit one day?

I sure am. :sarcasm:

Not much more to say.

It's just the feeling I have based on his playing style and build. Something about the average speed combined with the way his shoulders are.

Lou has generally kept and added the players they've drafted. For a while, he had signed every single one until they decided not to sign Cockerill and Mirageas, who admittedly taken himself out of the running.

Not sure what they think of Berg.

Jesse Nurmi also had 2 goals for London on Sunday

This was good. And he threw the monkey off his back after that first one. Or at least his teammate Sim did it for him.

Of course, those were goals 6 and 7 in a 8-1 trouncing, so there's that.

All in all, he's only got 6 goals this season and London has so many weapons, it doesn't look like Nurmi is going to find himself in a situation of prominence any time soon.

I saw an interview with him the other day where he was talking about how it was cool being drafted to the same team as Zach Schulz, and said they hope to live together on Long Island some day. Doesn’t seem like signing him should be an issue.
You're probably right, but we'll just need to sign Jean Potv..., er, Zach Schulz.

that would be awesome. Speaking of Schulz he’s had a disappointing year in terms of accolades. I thought last year he might have a chance at the WJ team. Hopefully he can keep developing and rounding out his game. He’s a great kid and was highly praised in the development program by people.

Fortunately, this season is essentially better than last for Schulz:

He's got time but we shouldn't really view him as a viable prospect at this juncture.

At least he's not Good Bogg.

Now there's a pick that made no sense when it was made and still makes absolutely no sense now.

I was at that draft and when the 7th round came around, the folks I was with were looking at the names Jarventie, Kostadinski, Mittelstadt, Mann, Levis, and most especially Fink as the most interesting still on the board (as well as a few who didn't get picked).

The Nashville fans let out a big cheer when Fink became their last pick of that draft.

Now there's a kid who has done nothing but look good since someone decided to take a very educated homerun swing in the round where you should take educated homerun swings. Looks like they've got a slightly bigger Bobby Brink on their hands there. Nice.

Personally, at the time, I was thinking our staff would most likely go for a Finnish Dman named Kalle Kangas. He looked like another Rajaniemi type and I thought he'd be fairly par for the course from this staff. Wouldn't have surprised me in any case.

Well good news then that it wasn’t a serious injury since he scored last night

Great move, lets just hope he trains with Mat "Quadzilla" Barzal because if he tries that move in the pros right now he's going blow over like a leaf.

Barzal FYI:

Schulz makes me think of Doyle Somerby, who is playing now the KHL with Kunlun, captained by former NHLer and 39 year old Brandon Yip...

Kunlun, by the way, is the WEIRDEST concoction of misfit toys I have ever seen in my life.
