Absolute toss up after 2 for me though. Lots of really interesting prospects. Reminds me of like 2015-16 when I was high on about 10 guys in the system.
I like Basha but I wouldn't have him that high. He's a Mangiapane like player, hard working and rewarded for said hard work. I think guys like Honzek and Gridin have more natural skill. Misa is a complete wildcard, loads of skill but size could end up being very preventative for him to go to the next level

People are down on Basha because they didn’t get to see him this year, but I think he has the potential to have a much better career than Mangiapane. He’s a way better skater at the same age, and a lot better at utilizing teammates. He’s also has some offensive IQ to his game that Mangiapane lacked. Basha is also by no means sturdy on his skates, but he’s a bigger than Mangiapane who may have been some of the worst core strength in the league. Doubt he matches Mangiapane’s 35 goal season, but I can see his point totals being consistently higher and Basha contributing more to his lines offense than Mangiapane did.

Lack of skill isn’t really a concern with Basha, that just seems to be the trope associated with high energy players. He does have to add size and strength to go along with his speed to play his game effectively at the NHL though.

My concern is losing half of his D+1 season

f*** Basha is a stud.

Hurt in December, ankle injury. Missed 4-5 months. Returns in teh league championship series and just does this in a 5 game series win...

Also... f*** Morin is a stud.

Good playoff, but has been dominant in the finals

Both will be playing in the Memorial Cup starting May 22 as Moncton's opponent (Rimouski) in the Q final is the host city. London will represent the OHL.

Medicine Hat (Basha) plays in 10 minutes here, just tuned in and Craig Button was hyping up Basha, saying, "guys need to do two things to make the NHL, play fast and think the game fast of which Basha does both well".

I think Basha is low-key our 2nd best prospect behind Parakh, I think he'll be a special player for the Flames in a couple years.

Don't think the numbers are there that he'll ever be an elite player in the NHL.
But I think there's some room there where he can be an effective player for Calgary for a number of years. Really like that they filled the cupboards up so much the last couple seasons with more to go this year.

Really need to add in a couple more game breakers.

Morin is an absolute monster. I was really hopeful the Flames could draft him, looks like he’s taken a quantum leap this year.

I think the next step is how this looks in the AHL next year.
We still also have Jeremie Poirier and Hunter Brzustewicz who were also absolute dawgs in the CHL, and they've been a mixed bag.

Poirier always had weaknesses in his game. Brustewicz on the other hand is a future 3/4 D. Nothing I saw from him this year indicated other than that. He reminds me of something like Rasmus or Ryan Ellis.

Morin looks a lot bigger to me. He just plays so calmly out there. I think he’s a surefire NHLer in a few years.

I’m not confident any of our forward prospects are NHLers for sure in the future (outside of Honzek in a checking role), but Morin and Brewski will be.

I'm confident Basha will be an NHL'er and Kerins if he puts the work in (whatever that is the Flames want him to do, clearly he needs to do something other than put up points to impress our management, maybe his practices/office is a problem(?)), he should be too. Other than that I agree with you, but you never know. I would never have thought out of all our prospects (who aren't 1st rounders), Pospisil would be one to break through.

Bru made strides last year, after 2 assists in his first 18 games, he had 30 points the remaining 52 games and looked decent in the one NHL game. I think he makes the team full time in 27 and will get a cup of coffee here and there next year depending on injuries and how we play our 4 replacement level d-man. For example, I would not be shocked to see him overtake Bean by the end of next year. If Poirier doesn't have a monster off-season I think his time is done, he's being passed by too many guys, ie. Parekh, Morin even Hunter Mews is probably a better prospect at this time.

I dunno, Gridin sure asf has me on notice 🔥

I think Suniev, Gridin can carve out roles.
Outside shots on Misa, Battaglia, Basha and Kerins.

There's some prospects here, just in my opinion nothing at this time to really expect a savior from.

I mean, it felt like Conny & co. saw something in Matvei to take him when they did, and he is still something of a dark horse for me, despite back to back solid if not outstanding offensive seasons. While I wouldn’t necessarily deem him a saviour by any stretch, I still think he could end up being even better than he’s already shown thus far. He’s easily the Flames’ forward prospect that I’m most intrigued by and excited about.

I mean he did push a Shawinigan team pretty far... for a team that if memory serves has little to no drafted players outside of Gridin.

Hoping for Gastrin (18) and Ryabkin (32). Time to take some swings on Cs. I also love the idea of trading Ras to move up and draft McQueen.

We’ve got a great D pipeline, our starting Goalie is locked in for a decade. Time to make some moves and draft aggressively for a C or two.

Same idea for me, but different players. Coming away with Cootes and Murtagh would be great.
