Speculation: 2024-25 Playoffs Thread - series, opponents, players and team discussion

I’ve been guessing Tampa wins the division for well over a month now, that’s still my guess. We have 3 back to backs from April 1st to our final game on April 15th. With the injuries and guys out of the lineup I’m not sure we’ll win the division but I certainly hope we do.

Agreed. And I would prefer to face Toronto than Tampa anyway. If we can get through with guys getting healthier rather than the reverse, and able to develop more chemistry - that would be good enough for me.

I reckon we get something like 6-4-1 over the rest of the season.

We are not wining the division and I dont think that should be the goal anymore, we should concentrate on playing the right way, win or loose.

My choice to face first preferably a wild card, but if not then Toronto, Tampa has just an extensive experience in talent and coach, they know how to do this and they have been trending up, is either us or Tampa wining the conference.

I envision that we are going to outscore our shortcomings in the playoffs, that is our only advantage, we need to win at least one of the 2 games before Ekblad's comeback.

We need Tkachuk to be Playoff Tkatchuk, before he got injured.

And lastly, I think Samoskevich is going to be an important pillar of this run, this kid has been trending up and he will be well known after this playoffs. he skates like Barzal but scores like Verheaghe, he can be our Easter egg of the playoffs.

I agree about playing the right way to end the season. Do that and get healthy. I also think I would pair Jones with Mikkola instead of Forsling to finish the regular season so that one of the two can be out there most of the time.

Assuming healthy going into playoffs we could have a very formidable lineup

Lousto-Lundell-Samoskevich
Rodrigues-Sturm-Boqvist

Forsling-Kulikov/Ekblad
Mikkola-Jones

That forward group looks great! I know everyone wants to see Marchand with Bennett and Tkachuk with everyone healthy but I think he could work nicely on the Barkov line.

Depends if we are re signing Ekblad. I don’t think Schmidt can handle Forsling’s minutes though so we would be forced to double shift Jones occasionally

I feel like I can say this: I said we needed another depth D at the deadline and I stand by it. Jokiharju would be helpful now
