  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Seeler had a noticeably better profile up to this point when compared to Murchinson.

But even Seeler himself is a pretty notable outlier. The reality is it took Seeler until he was 29 years old to play an every day role in the NHL. He was/is on his third organization in the NHL. So even if it somehow hits the long odds you’re probably not going to be the benefactor as the original team that drafted &/or signed the player.

Lets not pretend Seeler earned anything from his play he got a lifeline from a shit gm who happened to be gm of a shit org that values the things Seeler is "good" at. If CF wasn't here Seeler wouldn't be in the NHL

He did earn something, he turned his career around. Became a solid 6th dman for several years. Doesn't look so hot now and was bad extension to give. Wasn't the initial contract a 2 way deal?

He definitely got an opportunity that perhaps others wouldn’t have but to be fair to him he did take advantage of it & became a serviceable #4-6.

He’s on the natural decline now & was never really worth the contract extension & hang wringing about potentially parting away from him.

His play has always been of a 7th D and at his best he was a 6th never would I say he could be a 4th. He's a 4D on this team cause it's filled with other bad D but that's another story.

Seeler is good at shot blocking and nothing else. He will once or twice a year pull a deke and roof one. He got the call cause of culture and managed to parlay that into a $4M/yr contract.

Disagree as he has been solid #6. Either way guys like him should never get 4 year deals. Let alone close to 3 million per.

Seeler is the definition of a crommulent 6D. It's not his fault this franchise places way more value in players like him than a franchise should.

Signing him for 4 years was massive mistake, he's a dime a dozen bottom of the lineup player that you can get as a cheap UFA literally every year. But Flyers had to Flyer, and culture trumps reason. Hence, 4 years @ 3 per.

Believe it or not his analytic profile was pretty good the previous two years before this one playing that role. Not that I think the Flyers give a shit about that but it wasn’t like it was purely some hockey guy evaluation just at play. They definitely stumbled into something shockingly good against the odds even if the intentions weren’t the greatest.

For example Carolina which is a really data driven organization was sniffing around on him those two years when his name was in the rumor mill.

Has any player in the AHL flourished at all under the Tutelage of Lappy? Looking at the stats no one stands out.

Anyone have any opinion on Rizzo? Can probably throw the first 15 games or so out as coming off surgery no camp.

The GM must have missed his online class at Wharton on when to sell high when t comes to Seeler and others.
