This Phantoms team might be fun, they're on a roll.

Gendron is someone to watch, really quick hands, shot gets off in a hurry, his goal scoring is no fluke, and he has speed and quickness to go with it, needs to get stronger and round out his game but he's still young, turns 21 on Dec 30.

Avon is a work in progress, has skill, 6 for 9 in the shootout, really nice skater, just hasn't translated that package into 5x5 production yet. Turned 21 in July.

Tuomaala turns 22 in January, he's another showing improvement, starting to work on the forecheck, the speed and shot are givens, scoring on the PP, but has to be a two way player at 5x5, since his best bet is to make the NHL as a forechecker and work his way into the top 9.

Lycksell is getting some puck luck after a long cold streak, leads the AHL in shots, playing on the right side now, at some point he's going to get another shot at the NHL this season, will have to take advantage of it like Andrae has, at 25 he's running out of time.

With Andrae gone there's no sure NHL player on this roster, so their recent success is more of a team thing. Makiniemi has given them a solid starter, and they're 3-0-1 with him in the net.

Exactly how many full games have you watched this year?

Another touchdown for Guelph. Imagine if they weren't terrible. :sarcasm:
I was joking before, but their offensive takeoff began when Jett rejoined them.
Maybe he might be good?

It's hard to point to anyone else on that roster who is considered a top prospect.
Allen D #156-2023 (17g, 15p)
Alriksson F #107-2023 (13g, 9p)
top scorers:
Namestnikov (20) 16g, 12p
Karabela (20) 14g, 13p,
Stevens (16), 17g, 10p
Paquette (18), 18g, 8p

I think Allen is probably their best player outside of Jett.

Why do they insist on playing Peterson? Maki [played Wed and could have easily plyed last night. Or call up the guy whose name begins with a G. We have to pay him but we are not required to play him. He gives them no chance to win......

Probably b/c he's been a good sport about being demoted.
So they reward him with a few starts to give him a chance to revive his career.

And he was a NHL starting goaltender at one point, if he goes on a heater you might be able to dump him for a late round pick in the spring to a team with goalie injuries.

I miss the Peter White, Mike Maneluk, Neil Little, John Stevens days of the Phantoms. Those teams were fun and good. Some of my earliest and fondest hockey memories. The Phantoms of the last 2 decades have not been fun
That 04/05 team with Sim/Umberger/Sharp/Pitkanen/Slaney/Niitty/etc was my first memory of the Phantoms. They always gave me fits. Then of course you added Carter and Richie in the playoffs.
