Me in the late 00's-early 2010's: "I will not rest until the Sharks are in a January 1 Winter Classic on NBC, even as the road team, and that's the only NHL game of the day."

Today: "Winter Classic is now on December 31 to avoid the CFP. On a day with a full slate of NHL games. And it airs in the US on TNT."

Gary Bettman, probably: "Sharks? We'll get you in the 2034 Winter Classic. Maybe. It will be on December 27. 9am Pacific. Exclusively on the NHL Network in the US, TSN+ in Canada."

Maybe the Winter Classic moving to December 27 is coming as soon as next year.

In all seriousness on this tweet, this tweet suggests that starting with the next WC, it will NOT be NYD or NYE. An honest guess would be a move to Christmas or Boxing Day. There are people who might consider the NHL crazy to put the WC on Christmas or close to it.

He's obviously talking about it being in Florida. Nobody would bat an eye if the NHL schedules it on Christmas to compete with NFL and NBA games.

I'm betting on Saudi Arabia. Or Dubai. :sarcasm:

Meier suspended one game.

If he was still a Shark they'd add a 0 next to that 1 just because.

edit: and I don't mean 01.

Give me Lake Louise!
Or Sharks in Yosemite!

Figured out a different way to get ads in digitally (I understand that’s a key issue)
AIUI Canada won't allow for profit corporate event in national parks. So Banff or Lake Louise is out.

Yosemite is picturesque, but hours from major airports and luxury hotels required per CBA . The Ahwanee is small and may not have sufficient rooms. Park is also packed year round. And rink and stands could damage meadows?

All totally reasonable, but you’re seriously hashing my mellow here LS!

Except the Players' Union. The Christmas break including freeze on player movements is in article 16.5 of the labor agreement. Of course, the league could make concessions on other issues to get the union to agree to a Christmas Day game.
