Of all teams I am glad that we are not, or anywhere near, is Buffalo. That team just f***ing sucks and may never improve

I honestly have no idea what they can do. They may as well tank this year as what they really lack is an elite center to play behind Thompson. However, if they lose 35 of their remaining 50, they're going to close the year on a 12-48 streak. Everyone- who doesn't already- is going to want out. They can't do the traditional 'talented player for 1st, roster player, and prospect' because they're loaded with very good, but not elite prospects already- Kulich, Helenius, Rosen, Ostlund, Kleber, Levi. They need a center for Cozens, which is the hardest piece to acquire when what you have is wingers and left handed d-men. Of course they traded their young #2 C for a third LHD. Going into the year with $11M in cap room and coming out with Jason Zucker on a one year deal is crazy. Sure maybe no one wanted to go to Buffalo, but

I actually think the 'the answer is in this room' was the right decision for now. However, they totally missed on the delivery. They're going to get eaten alive on any trade because they need to make a move.

I don't think Byram gets a 2C. If I had to guess I think they put Owen Power on the block for a #2 C. He proceeds to flourish elsewhere. If they could get Hagens and be patient I think they could come out of this, but Buff fans want blood. They would have settled for palm trees.

I think it's perfect situation for MG to call Buffalo about available players.
I mean we could use one of those defencemen or even one of the young forwards for the Celebrini regime. Unfortunately they are heavy on the LD side, but I think at this point we don't ask about the handedness if there can be a difference maker coming back.

This will likely jinx them, but Nash looks okay to me. Stamkos is invisible- and they need a few middle pair dmen (like Fabbro...)- but they should be a lesser bubble team.
With their win, they’re now ahead of us in points percentage. And miles ahead of us in terms of 5-on-5 shot metrics. I don’t see them as serious competition in the tank war.

Prepare the @Hodge missile
He really does nothing out there 5v5. Wouldn’t be surprised if he averages less than half a point per game from here on out.

Let’s not forget that this 20 year old “rookie” has been playing professional hockey for 4 years.
