That NJ team is gonna be very good now that they upgraded in net and have a better defense (especially once Pesce is back) + hired a real coach. Some combination of Pesce, Hamilton, Dillon, Siegenthaler, Luke Hughes, and Nemec with Casey and later Silayev in the wings is pretty nasty.

They got so lucky in their rebuild. After Hischier and Hughes they got lucky with Nemec and Luke. Also having a bad year because of injuries dropped them in a year with a deep top 10 and picked a guy some thought was #3 overall and a perfect complement to Nemec and Luke.

NJ has a stupid amount of young talent no doubt, but keep in mind that they picked 6th in 2015, 12th in 2016, 1st in 2017, 1st in 2019, 6th in 2020, 4th in 2021, 2nd in 2022, and 10th in 2024. They've made the playoffs twice and won just a single playoff round since 2012. They had better have a stupid amount of young talent to show for it.

I don't really see the Oliver Moore hype either tbh...very mediocre propsect pool behind Bedard and Levshunov imo. McQueen will be a nice get for them as a big 2C behind Bedard, and they'll sadly get McKenna giftwrapped to them as well...

I think our defense will prevent us from outperforming them this year, they have much more competent puck movers than we do and say what you will about Seth Jones but he's a million times better than any D we'll ice this year
