Hertl looking pretty ineffective early in the season so far.

He's not really good anymore, sadly. Beast on the PP net front, but every time I watch Vegas he's just sorta there.
If that continues, another absolute masterclass by Grier getting two significant assets for Hertl (and his terrible contract) and flipping those for Askarov who looks fantastic

As soon as I pulled myself together emotionally after that gut punch of a trade, it was obvious that if Hertl wanted to go that this was the best we were gonna do. Hertl was a depreciating asset with a huge cap hit and I thought Edstrom+1st was a good return.

I could have lived with having Hertl through the rest of his contract if he was fine being here because I like him, but I think we'll happy to not have him pretty soon.

I've always wanted to have some sort of an emotional bond to former Sharks, but I haven't really cared too much, ever. I'll always like the players but I've never really cared how they do after they move on from the Sharks. It's a case of loving the Sharks as a whole and as a team too much, which suits me fine!

In any case, anything that hurts Vegas is good in my books and if Hertl's contract becomes an anchor for them, all the better. Nothing against Hertl though and I hope he lives a healthy life and all that jazz, but may he never help Vegas to win anything more than they already have won..

I never thought i'd do it, but I just added Krappo Tankonen to both of my fantasy teams. I think Georgiev is donzo, give the commander a chance! What a steal that would be if he can keep this team afloat and log some Ws

The only emotional bond I had when old Sharks players left was Joe, Marleau and Pavs. If it wasn’t Vegas, I’d probably cheer for Hertl to win a Cup but…

It seems to a hard thing for a lot of people to fathom here. It’s very likely he told Grier not to draft him

It’s not hard for me to fathom, I’m just hoping that was the case and not Grier reading too much into other BS things like the lazy Russian winger narratives, or that he wouldn’t be able to get out of his KHL contract.

Could be. Whatever it was, he went another way.

It's basically been confirmed that Michkov chose where to play using his leverage. I don't think any GM who passed on him should wear any goat horns

Friends...just wanted to say that seeing what John Tavares is doing really broke my hope for humanity. To think that someone already so wealthy from playing a game would cash his reputation in so cheaply is very disheartening.

I'm hoping it's a scummy group that is just using his likeness and hoping he doesn't find out. Not that he actually believes and is scamming people with hocus pocus

The fact that tavares is now onto his 2nd big scandal in a year, i wouldn't pass it off as nothing. He is willing to try tax fraud, what is to say he won't try to scam some fool fans.

I mean, what's the difference between Tavares selling a magical amulet and NHL players and the league itself hawking NFTs?

Vegas has been on a tear so far. I'm rooting for them to make it far in the playoffs. It'll make our trade for Askarov even better.
