Not sure this is the right place to post this. Don't watch the Q (or NCAA for that matter) but watched about half a game of Moncton and seen Caleb Desnoyers play. Wow.
But also seen a guy (overager) called Alex Mercier play. Faster than a speeding bullet, able to open time and space for his linemates, and always making himself an outlet option as well. If we still have our third rounder come the draft hope we show some interest. He is not big at 5'10" but plays bigger.

Samuel Jonsson continues to post video game type numbers in Allsvenskan, has yet to lose a game at 11-0-0 with a 1.35 GAA and 0.941 Sv%. The starter for the same team is 10-6 so it's not entirely team effects, but still important we see this kid at a higher level soon IMO because he's clearly too good for it.

I know very little about Swedish hockey, obviously these stats are ridiculously good, but HockeyAllsvenskan isn't the top league in Sweden. How much weight should put into this performance? I don't think many top goalie prospects play in HockeyAllsvenskan at 21 years old.

To recap.. Jonsson's current record is GP 12 GAA 1.35 SVP .941 SO 4 and 11-0-0. His partner is 32 year old Lars Volden who has GP 18 GAA 1.94 SVP .911 SO 1 and 10-7-0. Their team is one of the best in the league.

I did a quick search of HockeyAllsvenskan goalie stats for the last 15 years. Not much compares to Jonsson's stats. None of the top goalies finished with a GAA better than 1.35, and you have to go back to 2012-2013 to find a better save percentage. During the 2012-13 NHL lockout, 31 year old Victor Fasth posted GP 12 GAA 1.68 SVP .942 SO 1. I expect his team wasn't nearly as good as Jonssons, his record with the team was 4-7-0. Fasth in that same year posted GP 25 GAA 2.18 SVP .921 SO 4 for the Ducks.

Interestingly, also in 2012-2013 a 21 year old Anton Forsberg posted GP 33 GAA 2.04 SVP .933 leading his team to a 24-9-0 record.

I also didn't know this, but Filip Gustavsson would have been 23 years old in 2020-21. He played in HockeyAllsvenskan and posted GP 19 GAA 2.30 SVP .919 SO 1. That same year he post GP 9 GAA 2.16 SVP .933 in the NHL for Ottawa.

Good night for the OHLers.

2g1a for Clattenberg

34 save win for Day

1g1a for Wakely
It's still super early obviously, but Pracey looks like he got us some players from this last draft. Wakely is a guy that I'll reserve judgement on until he's a pro but Clattenberg and Nicholl look like good later round picks so far. Day looked good in camp as well even though he's not a Pracey guy.

I did a deep dive on this before and found most successful Swedish goalies his age were already in Elite League and posting very good numbers there, but here are some historical comps for Jonsson as it relates just to Allsvenskan:

Jonsson (Age 20/21)- 11-0-0, 1.35 GAA, 0.941 Sv%
Ersson- (Age 19/20)- 27-9-0, 1.95 GAA, 0.933 Sv%
Forsberg- (Age 19/20)- 24-9-0, 2.04 GAA, 0.933 Sv%
Soderblom- (Age 20/21)- 16-14-0, 2.38 GAA, 0.924 Sv%
Gustavsson- (Age 22/23)- 11-7-0, 2.30 GAA, 0.919 Sv%
Johansson- (Age 20/21)- 24-17-0, 2.39 GAA, 0.913 Sv%

So he's tracking ahead of some okay names on paper, but it's hard to tell since Ersson and Soderblom aren't finished products yet either. Ultimately the best sign will be how he does at the next level, but if that's not in the cards over there either through promotion or a loan I would rather get Jonsson here at the end of the Swedish season and see what he can do in the AHL. He isn't going to develop much staying in Allsvenskan.

Nice to see Petrov pulls things together lately. Another goal last night gives him 5 points in the last 5 games

I am absolutely stunned at how good his English is now. Hardly a trickle of an accent. I remember his first year in junior he had broken English at best.

I am no expert on European Leagues but I always thought that HockeyAllsvenskan was one of the better European leagues roughly on par or slightly better than the ECHL. If a goalie in the system was putting up those numbers in the ECHL I think we would be pretty excited.

By second year it was almost flawless.

o’Reilly putting up more offense as of late is good.
That said Nicholl is just constantly impressing me. He gets bounced around the lineup so much and doesn’t seem out of place ever. Still do not get how this guy was a 7th rounder. Like, he won’t even be 19 when the season is over.

Imo Fischer is robot smart defending the rush and blueline. Apparently he was just as good at baseball too, which is a big indicator for me.

Bowman has made several understated moves that are looking good so far. I thought Fischer was the equivalent to an I'm sorry card lol. Had no idea we got a legit prospect with pro translatable skills.
I know so very little about him, I don’t really follow NCAA at all.
Stats wise doesn’t look great, worst +/- on the team but that doesn’t really say much without context. Is he used as a shutdown guy with tough minutes?

I saw some of his highlites before he was in the OHL and the kid has tons of skill. I'm guessing a smaller frame and very pedestrian usage and stats last season really helped us steal this kid.

At this time of the year I’d assume Dickinson is at the world juniors? And if that’s the case the forwards have been more in charge of the offence with him away from the knights. Next season may see a big bump in orielly numbers as I’d expect Dickinson to be with the sharks next season (sharks going to be fun to watch with all their recent drafted talent)
