and we traded two prospects for him. I still do not understand why we traded for a guy who has had two years of back to back lost seasons. The guy is too fragile for the NA game

Borgault and Chiasson have combined for 4 more points this season in 22 more games. Jarventie has injury concerns but he’s shown significantly more at the pro level than either of the other two. It was a complete change of scenery move that likely amounts to nothing but Jarventie is much more likely to play NHL games.

Plus they got a pick attached which they in turn flipped to get Podkolzin. Which in itself is a huge win. The trade as a whole has massively favored the Oilers regardless of Jarventie’s injury issues this year.

And yet, he hasn’t even heard a peep from the organization. Absolutely pathetic on the teams part.

Hardly even talked about, but Paul Fischer, the D they received from STL is quietly putting together a nice season at Notre Dame. Plus skater, good 4 way mobility and edges, pretty solid defensively and isn't shy about taking the body. Not a flashy type but this team desperately needs some wins in the development pipeline, so this is one of very few up arrows.

And he's been at 3 development camps in a row. So he seems invested in the Oilers, which isn't always the case with kids who go the college route.

Well dare to dream.....but wouldn't it be incredible if after 40 years the Oilers drafted a franchise goaltender? Just having some fun here on a cold morning. Of course his current league and performance is a very long way from star status in the NHL but he has turned into an intriguing prospect.

My only hesitation here is that goalies from Sweden who do turn into even average NHL players are typically up at the Elite League level right now if not already beyond it:

Lundqvist- 28 GP, 1.45 GAA in SEL @ 20/21
Ullmark- 35 GP, 2.09 GAA in SEL @ 20/21
Forsberg- 22 GP, 2.44 GAA in SEL @ 20/21
Markstrom- 37 GP, 2.98 GAA in AHL @ 20/21
Gustavsson- 31 GP, 3.38 GAA in AHL @ 20/21

I get this isn’t necessarily his fault and maybe he has a historically good season in HockeyAllsvenskan that charts a new path for goalies coming out of Sweden, but the sooner he gets signed so we can dictate his developmental path the better IMO.

I get this isn’t necessarily his fault and maybe he has a historically good season in HockeyAllsvenskan that charts a new path for goalies coming out of Sweden, but the sooner he gets signed so we can dictate his developmental path the better IMO.

GAA IMO is more of a team stat than sv%. That said I'd rather he be killing it at whatever level he's at than not and who knows how good the other goalies were in tandem with/ahead of those other guys?
