Glad to see they learned from their mistake with Chiasson. These later round/UDFA guys who aren’t absolutely dominating in junior are much better served spending their overage year back there instead of bouncing back and forth between 4th line AHL and the ECHL, even if it burns a year off of their ELC in the process.
Yep. For guys like this the ELC really doesn't matter in the end cause they won't be playing for the big team during it.

The article glosses over the fact that Lachance is 21 and Tage Thompson at 21 has already did 2 years at college and was starting his second pro season in the NHL.
That’s not to knock Lachance but it’s a silly comparable

How do you figure? He won the draw and then 2 other players touched the puck before Nicholl scored. He didn't earn the assist but he definitely started the play with a clean faceoff win.

If he can keep working on his skating he can be at minimum a net front presence in the NHL. Maybe Hyman's eventual successor in that role?

That he most definitely did! I just remember the days of watching players in the AHL and CHL getting boned out of assists so I wanted to see how he was robbed!

The Oilers desperately need some young goal scorers in the pipeline.
Perhaps Lachance won't ever get past the AHL level but it has to be encouraging to see someone who can snipe the puck.
Right now, apart from Savoie, is there a forward in the farm system who is projected to be a regular NHL'er? Philp is the only other name I can think of but you guys know the farm system better than I do.

Maxim Beryozkin is probably the most intriguing forward prospect past Savoie, playing his third full season in the KHL and seemingly taking another step this year. He’s 23 and his contract ends after this season so there’s a real chance he’s a guy who could potentially step into the lineup next season.

So basically, at the pro and college levels (not juniors) the Oilers have 3 prospects who might be regular NHL'ers.

Jarventie would be up there too. Interesting prospect who is a lot closer to the NHL than who we traded to get him.
